Hi,
I hope someone can finally shed some light on my never-ending issue. For casual, non-DAW-related music listening and video playback, I use VBCable with Kushview Element as a VST host to apply monitor/headphone correction curves and display a spectrogram in my office setup. Two lightweight plugins, no real CPU drain.
The problem? I keep getting dropouts. The weird part is that they only start after about 5 minutes. Once they appear, they don’t go away unless I change the buffer size in Element. But then, the cycle just starts over again after another 5 minutes.
I tested LiveProfessor, which doesn’t behave like this, but I can’t find stable buffer settings there either. So I keep Element and keep switching my buffer size between 1024 and 2048 since months.. My workstation runs an RME HDSP 9632, which can handle a 128-sample buffer in a heavy ASIO/DAW project without issues. I’ve tried every possible buffer size combination, reinstalled VBCable/Element, tested LiveProfessor, and even tried Voicemeeter—but their interface is a mess, and I don’t need 30+ channels just for Windows.
My current setup:
AMD Ryzen 5950 / B550 chipset
Windows 11 (dual-boot: Windows 10 doesn't have this issue)
VBCable settings: "Max Latency 4096" and "Set Current Latency 3x 1024 smpl" (Seriously, why is VBCable’s terminology so complicated? Why two buffer values, and what does "3x" even mean?)
Kushview Element: Buffer set to 1024 (I switch to 2048 when the issue appears, then back)
RME: Probably irrelevant, but set to 256 samples (also tested 512)
Does anyone have an idea?
Anyone can help a dude? Kushview Element / LiveProfessor stuttering with VBCable

I am encountering the exact same issue as you. I use ASIO4ALL and I'm on a 9950X3D. I wonder if you've fixed it eventually? Thanks! I'll also try LiveProfessor in the meantime.

5 Minutes is about the time it needs for 32-bit to reach the limit in resolution for 44.1 khz sampling rate. Seems a bug in VBCable…

Alternatively, you can try a system-wide VST host (no need for extra virtual cable) e.g.:
Equalizer APO - by Jonas Dahlinger (free)
VST2 support. EQ + VST host.
https://sourceforge.net/projects/equalizerapo/
Virtual Audio Stream - by DDMF (trial available)
VST2/3 support. Version 2 was released in July 2025 (KvR database hasn't been updated yet), it runs much better than the ancient v1.

It`s not a bug... it`s a feature!
