Feel like it's confusing having the discussion across a bunch of different subthreads. Mods please kill this is needed..
Anyway, just DLed it and damn, it's great. Looks wonderful, very clear and pristine. Possibilities everywhere. Arp and piano roll style sequencer, reminds me of Massive X but actually usable!
My favourite new additions would be the spectral oscillator, the 'dispersion' filter, and the fact you can do audio rate modulation using all the oscillators as mod sources on everything thay can be modated. This just opens up so many interesting possibilities and also many more ways to make incoherent noise...
Also like the new FM/RM/PM options...
New convolution is nice too. The bode thing, which I think is a resonator? seems interesting. Edit: its a frequency shifter.
Love how content from Serum 1 is kept seperate. I did have to reimport all my wavetables, which number on the several thousand, into Serum 2 but that's no biggie.
Would like to have seen some more new filter types- I did like the acid one, not sure what its doing but sounded cool.
I would like it if you could remap modulation like Phase Plant and Vital, although the Auxiliary sources and an LFO can do the job sort of...And this actually may be possible because I've really only used for an hour or so.
Anyway, thoughts?

Three is better, but if there were four, all would come together in an unexpected, endearing way.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I don't have it, i dont need it, but it seems like its very good update!
Very generous to offer it to owners of original serum!
Enjoy!

Phuuuu that was a long ride. Four and a half years. But we did it! It's out! Now we fix all the bugs that escaped the (actually pretty intense, but hell it's a big plugin) testing.
OP, you wanna right-click on the mod slot curve and enable remapping mods. You get a nice editor and everything.
Yes I would very like to add filters. But first I will be doing a lot of sleep. xxx

Double click the modulation curve in the matrix and it opens an editor which functions as a remap with preset saving too.swilow11 wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 8:42 am I would like it if you could remap modulation like Phase Plant and Vital, although the Auxiliary sources and an LFO can do the job sort of...And this actually may be possible because I've really only used for an hour or so.

Fantastic work, it's an absolute beast of a synth.DaveGamble wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 10:22 am Phuuuu that was a long ride. Four and a half years. But we did it! It's out! Now we fix all the bugs that escaped the (actually pretty intense, but hell it's a big plugin) testing.

It's almost dizzying with the amount of options here

Those modelled filters still need a lot of work. Especially in the drive department and how they react to envelopes is not at all how analog synths sound. It's really difficult, if not impossible, to get the typical Moog zaps and really snappy analog percussion sounds for example.
Edit: At least with the MG Dirty Filter, using the LFOs in envelope mode seems to get me snappier results. The other filters still do not react well to fast envelopes, though.
Everything else seems pretty cool, though.

MG Ladder and EMS Ladder do not have circuit modelled distortion. Wsp, Exp, Acid Ladder and MG Dirty do.wvshpr wrote: Tue Mar 18, 2025 12:10 pm Those modelled filters still need a lot of work. First off, my sincere congratulations on this monster of a release
I have a question re: the spectral oscillator:
when the sample is scanned in forward/reverse mode, I think I can hear the opposite end of the spectrogram right at the point where the direction changes.
See for instance the factory preset "Soundscapes > SC - Astral Projection": at the rightmost point of the OSC A sample it kind of plays the chord at the left end for a couple of frames (almost sounds like a dub stab). Is this the intended behavior?
I have tried and load my own samples and the same happens, almost like the scan position rolls over to the opposite end for a moment. This does, however, not happen if I set the scan mode to Manual and move the playhead from side to side with an LFO - the "quiet" part stays quiet as the direction bounces back.
tl;dr is this intentional or did I catch a bug in the scan behavior?
Regards,
