Actually, I'm more excited for Serum. :scared:
That might change on Z3 release though.
Probably be the only two synths I'll ever need tbh
Just watched the serum 2 vid , and honoustly I don't see anything unique at all , it just adds more of everything the same
Zebra 3 otoh has some unique stuff not found elsewhere , the combination of osc fx with the new splines-guides for spectral damping etc..awesome :tu:
Zebralette 3 has been out for almost a year now and It makes me wonder how many people have actually delved into it ?
It's a absolute marvel and a soundesigners dream ,the range of sounds is Phenomenal .
I never understood the serum hype ( but that's just me )
Same here, didn't like V1's sound and I had high hopes it would improve since DMG is involved, but seems like V2 won't be for me. There are definitely some cool additions like the spectral osc, new filters and LFOs, but overall, it's pretty meh. I don't like the direction its taking --trying to be DAWs with built in piano roll, primitive granular osc and multisample osc, jack of all trades but not really excellent at anything. The constant tabbing workflow doesn't help either.

And most importantly, the sound is still meh, I have to tweak quite a bit to get sounds that I like, Zebralette 3 OTOH I was able to dialed in sounds so cool and complex that I have never heard before really quick and effortless, with extreme clarity that only Massive X is on par. And that's just 1 osc. You can really feel the almost 2 decades of experience that led to Z3.
For Serum 1 users tho, it's a huge update, for free. But for me, it's quite disappointing because it took Dave Gamble away for 5 years, really want that saturator and the extra comp models, ya know?

I think it's really cool, but high CPU and several crashes put me off of using it for the time being.

Oh wow, it was staring my right in the face and I missed it. LOL. Thanks!

Serum has won the race…

Zebralette 3 works excellently to get "that" sound. Nice! Definitely doesn't have the same artifacts I could hear in Zebra 2. It's a lot smoother, yet still retains the grittiness I'd expect. Great work!

Zebra 2 came before Serum 2 though, so Zebra winning because 3 will come before Serum 3

Is there anyway Zebra2+hz owners can get in on the Alpha/beta for Z3 ??

Can you post some of those so cool and complex sounds?

You see this
It's a spectral envelope on a basic saw wave
You can choose how fast or how slow the harmonics die out (damp ) , the higher on the y-axis , the slower they die out , x-axis is frequency ( obviously ) .
This is just ONE osc effect , placing this pre or post on the other effects can have a huge influence on the sound , and we haven't even delved into the different osc modes ( table versus additive ), or animated any curves , just 1 effect :tu:
I 've recreated some amazing rhodes sounds using this technique and the additive osc
It should give you some indication what to expect from zebra 3 , all of this times 4 ( 4 osc ) and some other great goodies

Ask them. Worked like that in the past.

I don't base a synth on what I see but instead on what I hear. That's why I asked the guy to post the sounds he called "so cool and complex" (complex being a subjective term). I only messed with Zebralette 3 for a bit and wasn't all that impressed for the kinds of sounds I like and use but maybe I missed something. I certainly didn't come away thinking it was capable of a "wide range of complex sounds" but we all prefer different types of sounds and we all have a different definition of "complex" so perhaps it's just not geared towards the types of sounds I like and that's fine.

"Amazing Rhodes Sounds" is an oxymoron to me. That sound got stale to me many many decades ago so to use it as an example of what the new whizz bang synth can do is not really a flex in my book. Using a synth that's supposed to be pushing the boundaries of synthesis to recreate a sound from the 1960's seems a bit pointless to me. I want to hear the future not the past.

I'm looking forward to Zebra 3 as much as the next guy but judging by Zebralette 3 it will be geared more towards synth nerds who get orgasmic over splines and again that's fine. To each their own.

No doubt Zebra 3 will be a very nice little synth but I've got a folder of very nice big synths so it's yet to be seen if it will get any more use here than Zebra 2 does now. I hope it does get more use but I suppose only time will tell.......

Given, in the past, how harshly you've expressed your frustrations with how u-he products should be addressed, it would probably be better for both parties if you didn't look forward to Zebra 3 and just forgot about u-he products as a whole.

If it doesn't work for you, there is no use trying to force it to work or have others attempt to prove to you it is worthwhile.

I know you aren't into presets from other developers, but the bank I found really good to my taste is:

I've posted a bunch of sounds from Zebralette 3 - You'll have to go look through that thread.
