So you just started your new Technotrack with this amazing fat Bassdrum and Bassline - 2 Track so far, straight mono in the Center for the right Kick.

You create/add Track Nr.3 with some Strings/Chords (pretty low frequencies) and your mix starts sounding like a mess. Track 3 collides in the low-frequencies with the other 2 Tracks. Instead of using a Lo-Pass Filter to Cut-Off the too low frequencies, here another idea where No EQ is needed and the Frequencies still remain! I would like to hear your opinion about, especially the Mastering issues of this idea:

Everything below 100 HZ (or whatever you wish) of Track 3 convert to Mono, then Phase invert the Left or Right Channel - Your Subwoofer is now free of Track's 3 low Frequencies and leaves Space for Bass-Sounds. Frequencies below 100 HZ are now played LR, not Center.

Monomixing would kill now frequencies below 100 HZ of Track 3 (which caused trouble beeing in the Center), so that would work out. Would Vinyl Records get OK with it, or the Needle simply explode?!

Any comment Welcome!!

My guess is you won't get away with this on vinyl. The needle will jump like a flea. Also on systems with a subwoofer I think nothing below 100Hz (or whatever freq) will be passed to L/R since that is what the subwoofer is doing.

Its just too much, cut down the bass for f*cking sake!

Good point! It Sounds good on a Headset though.

if you use a LPF to cut out frequencies from the Center, it suddenly sounds like there is 'a belly' missing (sounds unnatural, too cutted somehow) and i try to avoid this, obviously its the only way?! How else can i keep the lower Frequencies and remove them from the Center - or do i have to live with cutting them off using a LPF? Hmmmm
