Waldorf is a company that just kinda ran out of ideas after the Q. Everything they have done since the Q is just the Q expanded,Aloysius wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 9:42 am They could be a great software company. It's a shame that they can't seem to get it together.

i wanted to upgrade too but i read so much negativity i wont give them money for such a lackluster upgrade and bad support. just because it is cheap on sale i wouldnt recommend buying it. they shall not get rewarded for their crappy support of Largo.Digivolt wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:14 pm So is the Largo 2 upgrade worth it when it's on offer for $29 or is opinion still mixed (mostly negative) on it ?

If you already have Largo 1 I would spend the money somewhere else unless the Largo 1 gui is to small for your screen.Caine123 wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:21 pmi wanted to upgrade too but i read so much negativity i wont give them money for such a lackluster upgrade and bad support. just because it is cheap on sale i wouldnt recommend buying it. they shall not get rewarded for their crappy support of Largo.Digivolt wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:14 pm So is the Largo 2 upgrade worth it when it's on offer for $29 or is opinion still mixed (mostly negative) on it ?
Maybe try out the demo if you can to see if it worth it to you

Depends on your DAW I guess. In Logic, Largo 2 is unusable. I'm still using V1.Digivolt wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:14 pm So is the Largo 2 upgrade worth it when it's on offer for $29 or is opinion still mixed (mostly negative) on it ?

Depends on your expectations. Largo 1 is discontinued, Largo 2 is now the way to go. Aside from the formant filter, it is exactly the same synth. I'm using Largo since 2010, I can't notice any difference. I work with the VST3 on macOS and Ableton Live on daily basis, and can't report any major bugs.Digivolt wrote: Thu Mar 20, 2025 6:14 pm So is the Largo 2 upgrade worth it when it's on offer for $29 or is opinion still mixed (mostly negative) on it ?
I made my own macro control template for Largo, so for small adjustments, I don't need to open the GUI. Yes, the GUI is not perfect, but it is not as bad, as some people here mention.

Yeah, after a quick demo I didn't notice any significant difference other than the gui so not worth upgrading, for me anyway.

That's interesting. Largo 1 was a buggy, crash-prone hot mess for me in Cubase Pro running on an M1 Max MacBook Pro. Largo 2 is WAY more stable on my system (now running Cubase 14 Pro in macOS Sequoia). While I think the Largo 1 UI looks nicer, for $29, I would strongly suggest that people upgrade to Largo 2. Largo 2 is finally a usable product for me.Rastkovic wrote: Fri Mar 21, 2025 1:05 pm Depends on your expectations. Largo 1 is discontinued, Largo 2 is now the way to go. If only Waldorf would give some love to Nave. That's another unusable plugin, given how often it crashes. I can't count the number of times Nave has crashed after I had spent 30 minutes programming a very detailed patch. I finally gave up.
For what it's worth, the Microwave 1 and Blofeld plugins seem a lot more stable, which is an encouraging sign.

Are there still critical bugs in Largo 2 VST3 version that makes it hard to use?

- No way to define shape of the attack (ADSR). It is concave only, but I need convex / exponential.
- Changing octave (-4, -3, ..., +4) at the oscillator works weird. To avoid changing the semi-tone I guess.
- Weird values: detuning an oscillator goes from -64 to +63. Yes that is 2 ^ 8, but almost every other synth shows values from -50 ct to +50 ct. Filter cut-off the same, it goes from 0 to 127. No units either, like Hz or ms.
- Just 2 LP filter types (12 / 24 dB). Admitted, that is enough for most people.

It seems they handle all those kinda old software as "legacy": Largo, Nave, PPG versions or Lector.
These VSTs (incl. Largo 2, PPG 3.V, etc. ) still have several bugs, and they all would deserve a major refactor with improved browsers, like it happend with Attack 3, which still also have bugs...
Support acknowledges the problems, but nothing happens for years.
Program change in VST3? "not possible"... (look around for other VSTs...)
Automation is completely broken in PPG 3.v? "we identified it..." and nothing happens
They are good in hw, but very sloppy in terms of software
