Too many reverbs..too little time

This post made me look, I have 20 reverbs on my setup
I've been a plugin addict for 25 years.. I just love trying plugins !
But it often stops me from spending time making music with them.

I just deleted 5 reverbs.. progressing !
But I am considering buying Valhalla Shimmer .. Please stop me !

Convolution Reverb if needed
(Rarely stock reverb)

If I sold Valhalla, I would use the freeware Dragonfly reverb - cover all my needs.

I have several. I only use a couple.

I'd be happy if I only ever used Cinematic Rooms Pro as my only reverb for the rest of my life if I had to. But sometimes I want a special effect.

I deleted my Valhalla reverbs some time ago. I just don't use them in comparison vs Liquidsonics.

I got Toneboosters Reverb and a cheap, outboard multi fx which has some lovely sounding reverb tbh

I realize now I'm a reverb hoarder. I have way too many reverbs.
Does anyone want to help me trim the fat?

Blackhole -> Probably my second most used verb. Can't sell.
VVV -> can't sell, used it in my earlier projects though I don't use it as much now.
Relab LX480L essential -> Probably same as above. VVV and LX480L were in my templates.
UAD Lexicon 224 -> bought it out of fomo, don't need. Not in my template.
Toraverb2 -> Great for synths, not in my template.

BigSky -> Possible contender for selling, as this is an all-in-one reverb that's too deep for me to go into. It's like a mini synth, if you will.
Fabfilter Pro-R2 -> unused

Waves IR -> Unused, came with a bundle
Ableton Convolution Pro -> probably can replace all my other verbs if I just sample them

LiquidSonics Reverberate -> unused. Forgot I even had this.
Lexicon MX lite or something -> Funnily, I love this little guy. Came free with my faderport I think?

There's probably 3 or 4 I'm missing out. Anyone else like me?

You gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers in this racket.

Most of my most used reverbs are in that list. It's also no big deal. The only mild anoyance is UADx, because they don't support machine authorization. All of the others do, so they're no different than any other C/R protection.

I'm not particularly blessed with golden ears or anything so having a selection of plates etc is wasted on me, VVV does all that trad stuff to my ears fine. It's the weird ones that get me, Supermassive, JMG Hyperspace, UA Tails, Spacer, the weirder modes on Audiority's Xenoverb, that one that one the dev challenge the other year, too many JS ones in Reaper (Lava, Dusk, Abyss...), PSP Pianoverb, Puremagnetik Fathoms, Audiothings Texture etc, etc, etc... Most could be just a variation of a shimmer but they'll be that one preset I can't replicate with anything else so it gets to stay.

You made me curious: Are you that extremely well equiped in other plugin categories, too?

I make music with guitars, bass, drums, vocals. You know, songs. So I like to go through a process of gaming out how I would go about it if I were in a well equipped studio in the ‘80s or ‘90s.

So the plugins I have bought tend to be related to that. Mostly models of classic studio gear, facilities, and consoles. Sometimes I’ll get something if it’s on sale just to learn about the gear it models.

I may want my drum room mics in a studio room or chamber, or a plate recorded on the snare mic or vocal. But would I want a 140 or 240? Perhaps there is a spring reverb on the guitar amp. Is it a Type 4 or Type 8 tank? Or perhaps I would have sent a particular track to a Lexicon 224, 480, or PCM90 during mixing.

So I’m always thinking of it like that. The plugins in my “most used” list cover the above concerns. I’ve gone through a lot of different plugins covering the same ground as I’ve found more authentic or appropriate models that replace previous ones. Even without ‘golden ears’ I know that my results will represent that process and that should show through.

Genuinely didn´t know about many of the reverbs mentioned before, I´m not worthy lol. I don´t think I could identify the subtle nuances in all of them. I really only use ValhallaSupermassive, and VintageVerb. Been using the trial for seventh heaven and I think its fantastic.

LiquidSonics Reverberate -> unused.

Whoa ... your loss, sir. If I had to pick a desert island reverb, it would probably be this one.

I bought this way back when it was 32-bit. I don't even know the upgrade path for it. If I can upgrade it, maaaybe? But I'm trying to get rid of reverbs, not hoard more.

One really annoying issue it had was when you changed the presets there would be a very unpleasant loud pop. I stopped using it after that.
