That's a nice change imo. I did not like that their plugins required active internet connection.

Here is the Youtube video from the UA channel

Yep, all UADx plugin licenses can be machine authorised. UA Connect will offer to migrate, it worked flawlessly for me.

(It doesn't work for Spark, which continues to be iLok/Cloud as always.)

Props to UA for listening to customer requests on this. :tu:

And, I just deleted all my UAD iLok stuff. <sighs>

Great news, thanks for posting, well done UA, good move.

Wow, very nice to see companys keeping up learning ability. Much better value, these plugins now, thanks. Maybe one day no ilok? :)

That sucks (for me). 😡 I just got an Ilok ley a couple of months ago for this purpose.

You can use the iLok key as a backup for your authorisations (they've increased the authorisations per plugin to 3 as part of this change as well.)

For the record, Spark subscriptions are still iLok Cloud. Machine Authorization is only for perpetual UADx plugin licenses.

So to be clear the iLok License Manager software is no longer needed to be installed but UAD Connect must be installed and remain installed after plugin installation?

If I remember correctly UAD Connect did keep a constant up/down internet connection on my test machine but I'll have to fire it back up again tomorrow to be sure.

So if ilok is no longer needed in any form and UAD connect can be uninstalled after the plugins are installed and authorised then that's great news and UAD has a new customer (I only have a couple of their freebies).

Nothing has changed as to what is installed. You need the iLok software (UADx are protected by iLok) and you need UA Connect to install and update their plugins.

I have UA Connect disabled and only run it manually when I want to update or install something.

I'm not sure why you think iLok is no longer needed? The iLok licenses can be machine authorised instead of Cloud authorised, that's the only change. (Plus the extra activation you get.)

Oh okay so the iLok Malware is still needed. Got it....

Wishful thinking I guess or I just misunderstood the news.

Oh well f**k iLok and f**k UAD..... :tu:

I've liked the UAD plugins I've gotten as freebies, but always avoided buying their plugins because I can't afford to depend on plugins that need a constant internet connection.

Now I get to be tempted during sales instead of just writing them off...uh oh.

Do they allow license transfers as well?
