There aren't many wavetable or waveform synths, hardware or software, with OTA filters.
Oh, well, OK!

Watched the vid and it does sound nice though. Seems to have all of what made thing-8 sounds good but with more flexibility of additional oscillator types. I wonder what else is special about the OSC other than just being multi samples with variation in the start time?

It looks nice, but what will really matter, is how it sounds. I think my ideal as far as synth interfaces go would be something very close to the interface of Serum 2. I can't find much fault with that interface. :)

Thing is one of my favorite sounding synths. It had a bit of growing pains in the beginning, but now has become my go to for Jupiter 8 sounds.
This one looks great, I have no doubt it’ll sound incredible. Still curious to know what synth it’s inspired by, anyone in the know ?

Yeah, the Thing and Diva are the best sounding soft synths I've heard. Still don't own either one for whatever reason.

I just went and looked at "Thing", because everyone was talking about it. I can't fault the sound. It sounds good. But the interface! It's horrible! This Alice synth's interface is a vast improvement! I hope those who own Thing get an update some day that looks better. I would get a headache if I had to look at Thing all day. :(

Yeah man.. sounds wormer... analag..

Thnig 8 has been a staple for me since it's release, so definitely looking at this new one!

Looks great! Shame there seems to be no high-pass filtering for the delay and reverbs. It would be quite easy to accommodate hp/lp for both, with minimal re-organisation ;)

It reminds of the D16 synth. What was that called? Lush?

Post

That was my first thought, the sh 101, which Lush is inspired by or supposed to be a 'roided up version of I think.

I gave up on Thing8, CPU spikes on a M1 Max processor didn't get fixed before the price increased the regular price. Nice synth but not worth battling the spikes they barely acknowledged and absolutely not worth more than $200.

Same here. They didn't fix spikes between preset changes and didn't add real automation ranges to the AU, so I didn't buy. Polish your product and I'll buy it. I'd try this to see if it has the same problems though, because I'd maybe buy it if not.

As far as I recall, Thing preset change spikes were fixed before the price went up...otherwise I wouldn't have purchased it (for M1 Max). It's currently available with 44% off with THSPECIAL before March 31st (still not cheap though).

What I do find annoying is they said they would improve Thing's preset browser including centralising preset management across plugin versions. They've gone quiet on that other than state they need to address preset management during the livestream.
