PA customers - in general when they discontinue something PA still supports - my original DearVR pro through PA still works. Dear reality already left PA a year ago (?) or so, so there was some communication then.

But everything PA had is now available to everyone (including the newer Pro 2) so probably no reason to keep using the PA versions

Post

right now, it seems that the only one PA features is the "music" vrsion

sennheiser quotes @

dearVR MUSIC will remain usable for owners through Plugin Alliance (and doesn't need new version)
the "pro" version seems to become freeware

i assume, as long as the downloads are hosted at PA they'll be downloadable
and ditto for the licenses...

regardless of if you were a previous customer or not.

After signing up to the newsletter, I got a verification email to be clicked and half an hour later or so, a new email about AMBEO had the download links to the plugins.
Wow! That's kind of crazy (great, in some ways, in others, perhaps not so great.)

I did the same as you and others had suggested. Signed up to the news letter and then received the emails from Sennheiser and AMBEO with the download links and clarification that they were making them "FREE and without any time restriction".

The most clear positive outcome from this being, at least those people who originally bought software from this developer can continue to use their plugins in future with these "DRM-free" offline software installers.

I do empathise with existing customers about the likelihood of having no further updates beyond this release in future, despite having purchased these plugins, hoping they would continue to receive such continued support.

It would be a shame if Sennheiser tried to repackage this technology in future, to re-sell to those customers again in some other form. But who knows? Time will tell.

I suppose the bigger winners would be everybody else, who now has free access to this software. Perhaps, this is the best way for a developer that is going out of business to wrap things up.

I thought that maybe, only existing customers would have been able to use these DRM-unlocked installers, in conjunction with some personalized serial numbers issued to customers upon the point of sale. But I guess, if that method was never implemented for this particular developer and product line, then this outcome is the next best solution for them to take and to simply make those products available and DRM-free to everybody.

I went to the link and Bitdefender went nuts. Would not open for me.

I clicked the link in the email I received, and it opened a download link for all the programs and data. 3.1 GB. worth of whatever.

As an aside I noticed when I copy the link addresses from the forum, like in this thread, the links go to a site called skimresources.com with a tokenized URL. Is this safe? Something KVR is doing? What is it? This is the URL that the links actually go to:

I'm sure the next Windows version will have absolutely no compatibility issues whatsoever like 11 did

I didn't even know they existed..

Looks like they added Anti-Robot Verification to the page.
No more free plugins for those robot bastards. :borg:
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

Just a quick note for those downloading the plugins using the individual links in the email sendout:

There's no link for dearVR MIX-SE, but it is included in the "All plugins" zip (i.e. 10 plugins instead of only 9).

Anybody actually been able to receive an email from them? Guess they are so heavily spammed that we can't get through.

EDIT: Never mind. Got it after like 15 minutes of total waiting time.

EDIT2: If you download the whole package, keep a look on the download as mine has now failed several times in a row.

I should clarify. I didn't get a virus warning. I got a warning Sennheiser had a data breach and if I wanted to continue or not. First time that's happened.
