EDIT Actually I should have called this 'creative vocal effects ' because I think that's what I'm interested in
So this Howard Benson Vocal Multiplier is on sale at present, I'm becoming more interested in these kind of effects but don't have much experience of them. This one looks quite fully featured , but I know there are fx which are more harmonisers, maybe they'd be more versatile ...
for me the use would be from thickening vocals to more creative/ambient effects...
I wonder if people had thoughts on this, experience of other plug-ins to compare

Melda Unison has some nice features. You can harmonize but there's also presets for Double Tracking and Multi Tracking. Works very well.
If you want creative: Traptune or Molekular.

I've been using Molekular a lot. It can do some interesting things to voices. A tip you might already know, but if you get something you like, look for a module on there that's labeled Pitch and you can set it in tune with your stuff.

Sound Particles Density also might do the trick.
This is also one of THE future use cased for AI, creating choirs from a single vocal. Seems like we're still not there yet.

The Melda has a 'crowd' preset. It's kind of an unearthly sound though.

Maybe add a song that sounds like what you are going for?
I like using VectoMelt2 to create parallel/panned vocal tracks. I think it does what lots of these tools are doing behind the scenes.
https://www.psychicmodulation.com/vectomelt.html
Also a parallel track quatitized and/or vocoded/autotuned can be interesting. (like parallel vocoder used in Phil Colins 'In the Air Tonight').
Example song I used those on:
https://soundcloud.com/btrswtluvltr/animalbassremix
Original vocal track is 'Release the Energy' here:
http://www.monstersounds.net/release/ki ... las-vol-2/
I feel like I was able to give it more depth than a single vocal take normally has.
Softube layers was nice when I trialed it but kinda spendy:

Great thank you for the suggestions, will try.
I'm not really going for a particular thing 've heard, it's more about stuff that allows experimantation
