Examples where the remix/remake/cover is superior to the original?

I'm sure I've read somewhere that the Cure now base their live renditions on the Dinosaur version and that the reason that it's got such an abrupt ending is due to the tape running out.

Way back in the late 90s someone (Channel 5) got a bunch of bands to do some Eurovision covers as 'A Song for EuroTrash' Some interesting versions done, including a rather nice collab between Terry Hall and Sinead O'Conner.
When it was reshown shortly afterwards, though, I noticed that this one, by Kenickie, was notably absent. Possibly because of their comments on how creepy the original actually was.
Still, it was an excellent cover.

An idiot on Set Theory:

Bunch of kids from Slovakia called Eversame doing an acoustic version of Mazzy Star's 'Fade Into You' in what look's like a hut. Of course it's not better, but there's something beautifully innocent about this video.
My Bloody Valentine, Velvets, Doors, Byrds, Beatles, Killing Joke, Cure, Joy Division, Sigur Ros, Burzum, Dinosaur Jr, Pink Floyd, Neil Young, U2. REAPER.

And here's them (Eversame) doing an acoustic version of My Bloody Valentine's 'When You Sleep'.

I'm shocked at how much she seemed to do with a LOOPER!
Good singing voice and she played the bassline in so quickly.
I don't like that style of hip hop, but still it's sort of impressive.
Here's another thing to consider, not a remix, but a cover of Iron Man by Black Sabbath (Ozzy Osbourne):
Performed by the Cardigans

Actually I wouldn't mind hearing Khanate doing Daphne & Celeste covers. Ooh Stick You slowed down to a crawl with the vocals rendered in an agonised shriek
