Annie Lennox's cover of Nina Simone's cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins gets me every time...

If I may use one of my own songs, this one was written by me and my good friend Aliciya Angel about 16 years ago. The funny thing was, once we finished it, we weren't all that happy with it and considered trashing it and starting over. But, I had a contact at a label who was asking me to submit something, so we figured what the heck, let's just send it to him and get some feedback. He replied within an hour of me sending it and said he wanted to sign it as is, then had six remixes made (another six remixes were made when his new label resigned the same song a few years later). When we heard Callum B's electro house remix below, we lost our minds - way better than our original IMO. Over time, I've actually grown to love the original even though it still feels unfinished to me after all these years, and both the original and remix got some decent exposure in DJ sets at the time. Go figure.

Original:

Callum B remix:
Logic Pro | LUNA Pro | OB-X8 | Prophet 6 | OB-6 | Rev2 | TEO-5 | Pro 3 | SE-1X | Minitaur | Deepmind 12D | Integra-7 | TR-1000 | Analog RYTM mk2 | Digitakt 2 | TD-3 MO | TD-3 | Maschine+

Hell yeah indeed! Saw them doing this in about 1980 at the old CF Mott teacher training college 15 minutes walk from me. Reckon these are the only famous metal outfit ever to play in Huyton!

Fun fact, Julian Cope went to CF Mott.

 i didn't know they'd played in huyton.
saw them on the puppets and justice tours, manchester and birmingham. by justice it was arena rather than pokey club.

we used to go to wrexhan a lot, for death metal gigs, at the local working man's club.
would have all the same staff, usually old women, who would treat us all like their grandchildren
"ooh is he alright? all that screaming. two lagers was it love?"

Went to a FL gig years ago. At first I thought I was going to choke to death on confetti canons, but then he jumped out in the ball thing right on my head, and compressed my spine... fun times

I probably posted this already. If haven't seen the whole thing, I highly recommend it. It just made Cobain's even sadder.

Belated response, sorry. I meant Diamond Head in Huyton rather than Metallica :)
