Any plans to add a second modifier/warp slot to each osc, just like Serum 2? Also Serum 2 sometimes provides 2 parameters per wrap slot, which makes a lot of sense.
I mean, as I understand it, all algorithms for such a change are already there. It would be mostly a job reorganising the GUI then.
Two slots make a lot of sense esp. when using a cross-osc algorithm in combination.
Icarus could be even better than Serum 2, because it seems to provide a much better performance and optimization.

On top of that, I would like to see more modulation matrix slots. 16 isn't always enough. It could use a few more highpass filter modes and an OTA emulation. I also wish the phaser filters would sound more phasy like in ANA 2 and Vital.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 6:35 am Any plans to add a second modifier/warp slot to each osc, just like Serum 2? You already can apply an infinite number of morphs/modifiers to the OSCs in Icarus. In the OSC section click on Tools->Apply Morph->Apply Morph to Wavetable.Hanz Meyzer wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 6:35 am Any plans to add a second modifier/warp slot to each osc, just like Serum 2? Hm, not if two OSCs are involved, using a cross-OSC morph type, as I understand it. I think that is the whole point of the two slots available in Serum 2, since most of available morph types there actually are PD, RM, AM and so on, with two OSCs involved. So prerendering into a wavetable won't help here.
Also in general, if you are prerendering, you will loose the original wavetable transformation, too. It will be always one-dimensional only.

just spent some time moving all the wavetables to a single directory so iCarus can see it.valgard590 wrote: Sat Mar 29, 2025 6:29 am @3lu5iv3 +1000
In Pigment 6, serum and hive you can have multiple subdirectories but not with Icarus.
it's sort of a pain in the ass but it works. one problem this causes is i'm unable to figure out what kind of wavetable it is.

The wavetables in Icarus never were one-dimensional. You are able to change the waveform and apply a morph at the same time. In Icarus3 there is also the possiblility to cross modulate between OSCs:
FM <- OSC3 : FM molulate OSC1 with OSC3
AM <- OSC3 : Amplitude modulate OSC1 with OSC3
Shape <- OSC3 : Waveshape OSC1 with OSC3
Icarus 3 can is already (too much!) bloated with features and can do tons of things that other synths you mentioned can't do. Adding even more won't make your music better, but will only complicate useage even more. A complicated and overloaded interface does put off lots of 'normal' customers like producers that are not sound-designers or complete enthusiasts. In the end we need to SELL products to survive on the market.

You mentioned additional morph modes some time ago and I still hope very much that it will be included. It won't clutter or complicate things in my opinion.Markus Krause wrote: Mon Aug 26, 2019 6:51 am I will add several additional 'morph modes' to the distortion section (Noise, Am, Ringmod, etc). Icarus can route the OSCs individually withing the filter/distortion section. As a result you will get 2 additional modulation possibilities on top without messing up the GUI layout.

I think the point they are trying to make is that if you have FM going on, you can't do real time sync or pwm at the same time. It's not as much about complexity but rather expressiveness. I think it would be simpler if the wavetables have a dual-axis mode like hive, rather than adding a second warp slot. And again, I feel like there is an imbalance between the lpf and highpass modes (OTA and improved phaser filters would be welcome).Tone2 Synthesizers wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 6:48 am The wavetables in Icarus never were one-dimensional. We think that CLAP is a much better plugin format as VST3 as it comes with proper MIDI support.
Like many other companies we use JUCE as a wrapper for the plugin formats. The JUCE team has annouced that they want to support CLAP in JUCE v9.x. So support for it should be possible with reasonable effort.
CLAP support is on our roadmap for the future.

Cool thanks - yes I agree
Sounds like JUCE v9.x is going to be a game changer for CLAP development

Hopefully, that's when TAL's synths will finally support per-voice modulation. They couldn't implement it before because JUCE currently doesn't support it.aMUSEd wrote: Tue Apr 01, 2025 11:36 am Cool thanks - yes I agree

Would CLAP support be added for all your synths or just Icarus?

Technically: If I can make it work for Icarus or Electra, it should also work for Nemesis, Saurus, Gladiator and RayBlaster.
It will not work for the effects and Warlock, as these use a different SDK.
