Auburn Sounds has just released Inner Pitch 2.0

Inner Pitch is a pitch shifting, delay, and pitch correction multi-effect (CLAP, VST, AU, AAX, LV2).

Image

Inner Pitch focuses on the best possible quality in terms of pitch-shifting.
It does so with relatively low latency but high CPU usage.

WHY?

We were not happy with the final sound of Inner Pitch v1, which hates solo instruments, and pitching down (especially with bass). Moreover the sound was "reverbey" due to a complicated algorithm with more spectral leakage than needed.

Hence, a sound update was needed, and that one brings larger UI size, robotic pitch correction as additional color, and the option to use the former tuning as well (v1).

The v2 results, to our ears, tend to dominate Inner Pitch v1 in almost every scenario (though sometimes the dark distant color of v1 helps the mix). The sound is now much more standard and present-sounding without too much coloration and preserves high-end and dynamics better.

What Inner Pitch is good at is preserving instruments and details lower in the mix in terms of volume, and here it shines more than precedently.

v1 is more colored and v2 is more naturalistic, in a way that is interesting on real instruments. For now you keep the option to choose one or the other tuning.

Surprisingly, there is still a lot to do with pitch-shifting and we are envisionning even deeper and correct pitch-shifting in the future, though it's unclear if the market will allow us to do that.

As always the most detailed review of all changes is in our introductory blog here.

FEATURES
  • NEW Pitch Correction, only hard-tune / "robot" (Full Edition only)
  • NEW Improved pitch-shifting sound
  • NEW Embed Inner Pitch v1 sound when clicking on version number
  • NEW Larger maximum size 350%
  • Pitch-Shift -24 to +24 semitones
  • Formant-Shift
  • Delay with in-loop diffusion, Tap tempo, 3-band EQ, L/R pitch diff
  • Colors: TUBE, GAME (ADPCM-like), and RATE
  • Overlap settings trades dynamics accuracy with a bit more spectral leakage and much more CPU usage (Full Edition only)
  • Quality settings trades spectral leakage vs CPU usage (Full Edition only)

Ok, i had a go. => on Piano only !
I´m used to use Pitch shifters on Piano. And i´d say, Piano is quite a picky one on such FX.
If it sounds good with Piano should it do with many more Signals as well.

my pros:
- Downshift sounds great !...on the full 24 semitone Range. Well donne !
- +- 24 semitone Range. Nice
- Nice Big dial. That was very helpful vs. jam uses. ( i´m not used to have such a big dial. Great)
- only 18.7 ms latency for such a nice downshift. That´s Great !

my less fav ones:
- i personally can use the upshift for only 5 semitones with the Piano. Maybe 7
With signals with less high freq content is it better. Some improvement to make it work up to 12 semitones upshift would be welcome. I personally don´t need more upshift.
To notes: the specific glitch, respectivly the specific degradiation of the sound might be even useful and funny in some cases. As is with any of these tools.
I personally don´t use upshift much. Usually only for brief moments while jaming.
And my other P-Shifters also don´t sound to good on upshifts. Seems tricky.

- The Formant shift is when used with Piano not comparable with the leading pitch shifters vs. creative jam purposes. Not that it would sound anything bad or so. It´s just not opening same doors. Not tested with any vocals. only piano. I do not PS vocals. That´s a sacrilege, hehe. Don´t do that !! :hihi:

For sayed 19.- intro price, a steal ! HAD to snag it. Thanks !....very useful for me.

Very fair deal. So i write some more, since i was triggered. Call it enthusiasm:

too long, don´t read.......:
I checked vs. Trax Flux and Zynaptic Pitchshift pro within same patch.
Downshift is very good ! maybe even leading vs. my uses. Different than Flux vs. Piano.
PS pro has only 12 semitones.
Again, they all sound different. To say something "is best" is not the right thing to do.
But if i had to rate one best vs. downshift, could it be this one, or then Trax Flux. But not PSpro for me.

CPU usage is in Standard mode similar to Flux and PSpro. Maybe slightly higher. In Max mode is it significantly higher. I can hear a difference on Piano vs. both modes. It´s not dramatic. Sounds still very good in standard mode. Soft mode has here nearly the same CPU usage. slightly less. not worth it to use that in my case. So, vs. CPU load, on par with the other 2 ones....or then, way higher. You chose.

Considering the very nice downshift sound, and that with that low a latency, for THAT intro price ? GREAT Value ! Thumbs up !

Not tested with other signals. Not tested with drums.
Spent quite a bit of time right now doing some jam-comparisons with all these 3 P-Shifters.
To notes: many parameters were CC mapped to HW controls.
I jamed ....with a HW haptics feel ! NO mouse juggling.
Also: all plugins had the bypass switch CC mapped to HW controls too.
Who thinks HW has better haptics than SW .......should do such a test with HW
The Eventide pitchfactor might be $500 or so ( i had one for longer)
Ohh, not tested vs. SW eventide pitchshifters. I never use those....so, that´s where it came from.

The jam, was clean Piano, or Piano FFT pitch shifted bevore of these Regular Pitch Shifters.
I´ve not used the Delay. I had some short tests with the Spectral EQ thing. It can make the upshift a slight bit better

That´s a great addition to the basket for Pitchshift afficionados. ;)
Such high quality tools for 20 bucks ?....now, thats the SW-world !
that made my day.

Happy to see further refinement to the algorithm! Too many pitch shifters either focus solely on vocals or instruments and end up sounding inconsistent with certain material so it's nice to see an algorithm more generalized.

Thank you for the update!

Great update.

I think Auburn are the ultimate hidden Gems of the plugin world.

Lens is phenomenal, Graillon is great fun and Inner Pitch is seriously useful.

They also make some of the best promo videos in the business.

SOLVED - they are a French company

Is there any bio on the people / company ? They don't pump out lots of different products but seem very high quality

Auburn sounds has been here for almost a decade now and have released truly unique plugins without going too of overboard as to not be useful. They include options in their plugins that might seem odd at first but actually suit the plugin really well once you get used to it. (Rate/Tube/Game in Inner Pitch, LP/HP modes in Renegate, the saturation in Couture, ect.)
Helps give the plugs their own unique sound if you choose, but are fairly transparent otherwise (Renegate is a stand-out though, it's the best gate ever made in my humble opinion)
They've also contributed a lot to open source VST development by releasing their plugin framework, DPlug.
If you want more info on the people behind it I'd reckon shooting them an email would yield results.

(thanks all)

Dear users,
The latest macOS 15.4 update from March 31th 2025 breaks all existing Auburn Sounds plugins on both native arm64 and Rosetta.
Please DO NOT UPDATE to macOS 15.4 yet. Early estimates range 1 or 2 month from now for the availability of a fix. (EDIT: quick fix available here here).
Thanks for your attention.
