Does it come with a lab coat, as demanded by the Synthetic Workers Union?

That's the one I've been waiting for ever since it was announced to be in works way back when.

I have no idea what old synth this is a ‘faithful reproduction’ of. Anyway, duophonic and you can pan the two left and right.

I noticed he didn’t say “Legendary” once in that video … what’s up B- you slipping?

Oberheim Two-Voice.
Never really heard of it, a duckling if you ask me.

It's another one that I think I should be lusting after, but actually don't. Obies never really set me on fire and still don't. The filter has some niceties but overall it just strikes me as flabby and slow. I assume it's all 24dB/Oct filter? Doesn't look like any kind of filter drive, which is what generally gave Obies a lack of grit and character IMO. None of the recent GForce Obie stuff got me in the slightest excited either.

Having said that, I like the look of it, the sync sounds quite lovely and it looks like it's capable of fatness with flexibility in the voice structure. I imagine Obie 2/4/8 voices are on the dreamlist of many, just not my cup of tea  .

Good on Behringer for continually releasing great and affordable gear. I'll probably pass and wait for better ones more to my taste. If it's in the cheapo bucket I might buy just for shits'n'giggles to make the desktop section look good but I suspect it'll be in the Proton price bracket (which I definitely WILL buy when it reaches these shores).

I only had a chance to hear the first few minutes of the video, but damn that sounds great! :phones:

Naw, I would assume those are dual 2-pole SEM filters just like the original Two Voice.

OK, thnx. It surprises me that I don't like them, as many of the real character filters IMO are 12dB/oct. Much more character than 24. Dunno what it is about Obies that unimpresses me. On paper I should like them :?

I really do like the look though. Proper 70s Dr Who aesthetic. It would look amazing next to a Behringer VCS3...one day... :hihi:

Funny you should mention that, because I had the same feelings about Oberheims until recently - I always thought that I should like them, but I never heard anything that made me want to buy one. As a kid growing up, I was all about the Sequential Circuits, Roland, and Yamaha analogs, but somehow that changed recently. In the past year or so, I bought an OB-X8 and a TEO-5 and they've already become two of my favorite synths I've ever owned.

£230 (about 480 AD  )

That should be around NZ$500, but more likely to be 700+ by the time they bump the price in usual NZ gouging style ("but it costs us $200 to ship it down here") . At 500 I'd possibly buy it, but at 700 it doesn't appeal as an impulse buy. Puts it squarely in the Neutron/Proton bracket, which appeal more to me.

I have little enough faith in my self-discipline though, I'll probably cave in and buy it just because, and it adds another flavor I suppose :hihi:

Behringer said they'll introduce direct sales at some point...I'll sign up like a shot. Whatever they charge for shipping will be better than the profiteering at NZ suppliers
