I know this is really all personal opinion, but I'd love to hear some of your opinions on Slash vs the new updated Hendrix. Which package do you enjoy more? Which seem to offer the best "rock" sound? Which do you find to the be the most inspiring? Any good demos you recommend listening to?
Any thoughts / advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

despite much trying, amps from Slash never quite clicked with me, so i ended up much more at home with Hendrix stuff despite expecting the opposite. but yes, this is all personal opinion. Slash's amps are way too bassy for my taste. i still keep them around in case i get to need *that* sound, but for now i got much more mileage out of Hendrix. it's not to say Slash stuff is bad - i just don't quite like it.

The Slash package wins for me. The JCM 800 is the ideal "rock sound" for me, and Slash nails that. It's not quite a high gain amp, but not quite as tame as 60's amps, and it gets a ton of presence, sounding very upfront in the mix. The Hendrix JTM-45 might win in the "Classick Rock" department, where darker, less distorted amps are king however. So I guess it's what kind of sound you prefer.

btw you can demo both packages and decide what you like better for yourself. or get both

Slash for $32.99 at audio deluxe. I am starting to think hard about getting this and later adding Hendrix. If a business deal I am working on happens I might want to add others and get some credits to snag some other amps. From analyzing what they offer that is not in AT3 ( which I just got along with the rest of Total Studio 3 ) and there is a lot that I want.
Audio Deluxe price
Slash $32.99.
Fender $61.99
Orange $41.99
Hendrix upgrade is $40 through custom shop if you already have AT3 or if not AD has it for $41.99
Individual gear priced in credits
Amps
Soldano 30
ENGL 30
Carvin v3m 30 + 5 for cab
Hi Watt 20 + 5 for cab
Dr Z 2 amps 1 is 30 + 5 and the other is 20 + 5
Jet City has 2 amps 1 is 30 + 5 and the other is 20 + 5
FX all FX below are 15 credits
Fulltone 1 OCD
TRex: 3 mudhonney, moller, and a delay
Seymour: power grid and a tremolo shaper
Zvek a couple of step wah and a step trem
I think there is a new microphone as well from grove tubes.
The time to test these things before making a decision on what to buy may be there this weekend or not, I may have to go help someone do something and that would keep me from testing these things to see which I want to jump on. I am leaning towards snagging Slash. I love the JCM sound and it is something I would use a lot and I do plan on adding the Soldano, Carvin and ENGL. I can pick up Hendrix for $40 through upgrades later on anyway, Slash won't be on sale forever.
I know eventually I will want all the delays and all the dist/ overdrive pedals and all the fuzz wahs. Probably will snag the Soldano, Engl and Carvin later if they sound good after I test them.
I am curious about Re valver as well.

I've been checking out buying used hardware fx units because I need a foot controller for live usage. I am thinking about getting a used GSP1101 as a temporary stepping stone to getting the Axe FX and I would probably snag a GSP1101 for that purpose over getting an HD500 or the GT100 which I am also considering.
I had a GT8 and several units from digitech plus I have the podfarm from line 6 and I wanted to try amplitube as well but being a keyboardist I also will have to use my laptop for playing keys and backing tracks so I think I need to rely more on hardware than my computer for playing my guitar live and if I get hardware why wouldn't I prefer to record with that as well.
The GSP1101 is leading my evaluation primarily because its foot controller is better and it maps to other units existing presets. Midi mapping is non existent in the HD500 and GT 100 so those units cannot properly serve as a master controller for a multi fx unit rig. They can only send a controller signal and not change presets on another unit mapped to their presets.
I went to line 6's forums and people there are massively complaining about this and how line 6 is screwing them over by not developing midi mapping into their product.
I see amplitube gave up on trying to market a foot controller maybe they will re-think that situation and come out with something later on.
I need 10 presets available and up and down bank switches as well as tune and tap. That is what I get with the control one from digitech and I can even add additional controllers with the extra inputs on the GSP to have 2 expression pedals and another 3 programmable switches for use in turning on and off stomps in my presets. With a librarian to create an unlimited number of presets why people don't all use presets more is beyond me. I think that is infinitely better to do than tap dancing and switching on and off on a bunch of individual stomps.
In the event there is a sound I need from amplitube while playing live I will always have both my hardware fx unit and a laptop and not every song I do will have a need for using synths. If it gets to that level of complexity I will hire a keyboardist to play with us and then there goes the neighborhood so better to be a guitar band with me adding the keys as needed than to get super layered and complex with the synths or when I do want to play keys limit the number of guitar parts to zilch and go all ELP on people. Maybe I make enough on this deal I just did to spring for a kurzweil or a korg and then go all hardware like the pros.
If I were amplitube / IKMM I would be bundling all of the models into a single collection for a price point at about $199. OR at least all the metal and Hendrixy stuff and add a few of the more popular fender models leaving the seperate fender package available to those who really want a lot of choice on that brand. Otherwise they risk making guys like me look into getting hardware instead of software.

That and I'm guessing the Hendrix estate ... licensing... etc.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.
