I like Diva.

Does anyone not like diva who is not rolling their own? I would think someone might not like Diva because they're just listening to the patches but once you start creating your own then the power and Beauty shine through

Yes, I find the factory patches to be quite boring, not my taste at all (no offense to Howard and the other guys).

I meant to say does anyone not like diva who is rolling their own!

I would exactly expect people not like Diva because the patches aren't that great in the factory.

I think it's quite astonishing how good Diva still compares to other alternatives out there, after all the last new big feature release is from 2013 (Uhbie filters + digital osc). They had a lot of quality-of-life releases after that, but clearly focused on creating other plugins.

But since it has several modules like a digital OSC too, it's quite versatile. Personally, I do love this sound, but think that Repro-5 is even better than Diva, but less versatile. They are characterful synths and you have to like the character they are emulating.

But of course, if you're bored of that virtual-analog sound of classic synthesizers, you might prefer a more modern synth like Serum 2, Pigments and the like (Zebra 3 hopefully soon, too).

There are many great patches in it, mainly from Howard Scarr. But even the simpler patches it has show off the quality of its sound.

I don't really like it or dislike it. It's just the thing I reach for when I want the plugin to force me into that vintage analog box.

If I could change one thing about it, it would be a more flexible and modern modulation system. With Diva I usually find myself using Bitwigs modulators. Diva is the only synth I do this with, and I'd much prefer to do modulation directly inside the synth.

I still want to buy Mona for Diva. I plan on getting it this year (finally):

I used to love DIVA when a single instance would instantly bring my Core2 Duo to its knees, begging for mercy. Now that my M1 can run multiple instances without even breaking a sweat, I’ve lost all respect for her. C’mon, DIVA, it’s time to step up your game, earn your name, and stop letting these young hip processors push you around.

Careful what you ask for

(in reply to other posts, but related: We of course have also come to the conclusion that it might be good to add some more features/models at some point... and we might have just the thing... but it won't happen before we're happy with Zebra 3)

Correct. I rarely used 3rd party presets and still ended up selling off Diva. I can always buy it again if it's improved. In the mean time that money went toward better synths (for me).

I still have Hive2, which I think is a better instrument than Diva, though it's been tucked into the "Less Used" subfolder in my Synths folder at this point, as I use other synths more often. It could also use a refresh, though not as much. I think I use Repro1 more than Hive2, Repro5 not very often.

Yes, that would also be my #1 request. In Repro-5 they added two more "modern" modulation slots to it in the most recent update, now it has 4. Hoping for something similar in Diva!

Sounds like something bigger - Diva 2, preset-compatible? But yes, Zebra 3 first please :)

Never used it so no idea. Got plenty of other synths so don’t need it 🤷‍♂️
I wonder what happens if I press this button...
