Thanks! That’s a great tip!cryophonik wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 5:42 pm This is why I love the Speed Editor - the commands are printed in plain English and everything is a click or double-click to perform.

I might regret this later, but I'm on software only Resolve Studio.
I don't want to add any extra hardware controllers right now, but if scrolling causes my hand to cramp up, I'll definitely add the Speed Editor.
I saw a video of someone using it with the Edit page. It was very basic use, but the summary of the video is that they loved the jog wheel.

Yeah, the scroll wheel and a couple of other keys work in the Edit page, but it's very limited.

Not being able to reprogram/re-assign all those 'camera' keys, is totally stupid/limiting, impractical, un-insightful, uninspired, and therefore inexcusable to me.elxsound wrote: Sat Apr 05, 2025 8:33 pm I might regret this later, but I'm on software only Resolve Studio.

To be fair, the Speed Editor may cost more, but it also includes Resolve Studio ($295 value), so it’s only $100 more than buying the license. That makes it a great deal if you want the full paid version and don’t already own it, but not so great if the free version is all you need or if you already have the Studio version.
I personally don’t mind that it’s a dedicated controller that can’t be remapped for other apps because I doubt I’d ever use it outside Resolve, but I don’t understand why they won’t open up the functionality a bit more for other pages within Resolve.

Good point. ... so easily way more than a decade, with myriad editing apps. If you can assign a keyboard shortcut, it can be used with the shuttle. PLUS, there's this sheet of cool stuff someone already figured out how to do, including blank ones that you can put whatever you want to put on it, on it.

Question for YouTubers (or anyone else who might know). I’m finishing up a bank of patches for a hardware synth (Trigon-6) and want to create a video of me playing through the patches. I need a solution that will allow me to record the following:
- audio from my Trigon-6 (connected to my Apollo audio interface)
- external camera on my MIDI controller
- external camera on my Trigon-6 module
Any suggestions for an app that will allow me to simultaneously capture the audio from my interface while also capturing video from the two cameras and keep them all in sync?

I've been struggling with figure out solutions for that as well. The only thing I've found that works is doing it the manual way. Slamming a key hard in the beginning in the recording - like a movie clapper - and then manually line up everything. Then cut.cryophonik wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 5:43 am Question for YouTubers (or anyone else who might know). Yeah, that’s what I’m fearing, but I can do that if necessary. Also, after thinking about it some more, only one of the cameras needs to be sync’ed. The camera on the synth won’t be showing much of anything beyond the patch number and some blinking lights, so it can be loosely lined up with the rest. That should simplify things, at least.

OBS should work. Vurt uses this for all his videos. I use it for capturing one webcamera but haven’t bothered with simultaneous audio from the interface only because of the distance. My modular rig is usually setup across the room.
It’s very easy to use and lots of support/tutorials available.

Oh, that does look like it should work, and it’s free?! Nice! I’ll check it out. Thanks @elxsound!elxsound wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 11:51 am OBS should work. Vurt uses this for all his videos. ive never tried recording multiple inputs at once.
it can be done if you have both on screen at once, but it won't record full screen with one in the back ground recording off line.
then you could magnify each input, and edit as needed.
i hope this makes sense, if not ill explain with images when im not wasted

oh, re reading, yeah, no problem. im away from pc at the minute, but the drop down menus are self explanatory, and it's easy to use.
set up the scene with an audio input, and a camera, they're then linked,
you can add other bits eg a visual synth as an overlay for less patch related stuff, but just a suggestion to think about.
also you can do text stuff.
da vinci also opens the recorded files without remuxing or whatever its called.

Been buying odds and sods on AliExpress lately, and have realised its a nice source for some stupidly cheap PAL video bits and pieces.
PIcked up some car 'reversing' cameras for a couple of quid each, PAL video output and 12V power. Ive got two different models, one need hacked(*) to remove the reversing lines and un-mirror the image, but the other one (if you get the 'front and rear view' variant) is fine as is, looks like this

Got mine here https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005896756857.html, and at £2 each was way cheaper than the £15 or so that Amazon wants for them.
* Some need to be modified physically; you need to bridge solder points on the rather small and fiddly PCB to remove compisited in reversing lines, unmirror the video feed and possibly invert vertically as well.. I found instructions for a similar model online, but had to suss the specific points for mine the long way round; bridging 3 adjacent solder pads on the board to ground did the trick.
They should run straight into my video mixers (and my small, slowly-growing video eurorack setup).
They also work well into a cheap AV2HDMI convertor, and then into an equally-cheap USB HDMI capture dongle, for computer-side processing shenanigans. (both of those devices can be found for under a fiver each.)
Also picked up a pair of these little 4.3" displays, 2 switched PAL video inputs and 12V power again. Looks like they're just under £7 now, I got mine for a shade under £6

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006958716130.html
Or £15 plus from Amazon.
(FWIW, You can get that 4.3 display with a camera from AliExpress at just under £13, but that's quite a lot extra for the camera, and its the one Ive got that needed hacked.)
I decided to pick up a couple of these displays to test for two purposes - first one was to try building a basic video feedback device, and that works fairly well.
The other one is so I can set up some small 'preview' screens for video, like a cheap DIY of one of these things
