Check out the fantastic result I got starting with a simple midi chord progression in 4-part harmony, and breaking out the 4 lines into 4 separate midi tracks. I then rendered the alto line and converted it to a "Motive Generator." The result was a beautiful "counterpoint" line which was perfectly diatonic with the 3 other lines (i.e. it preserved the original harmony).
