Here are my 2 cents for what is next in the evolution of midi controllers.
Now we have polyphonic expression - the greatest leap in midi so far.
And to really move this in the next phase I think what is missing is the one thing that we don’t have from the world of acoustic instruments is haptic feedback where the touched area of the surface would vibrate based on the frequency of the sound.
Acoustic instruments vibrate based on the frequency of the sound and harmonics that is being produced when they are played.
This would really be an amazing feature.
And in terms of vibration it would be amazing if they would somehow would be “modulated” based on the x-y-z and aftertouch information. And not just the touch surface but the whole body of the midi controller. Somewhat like acoustic instruments do.
I know it is somewhat a fantasy and probably it would be a very tedious job to create but it would be a really great feature. Probably expensive too
