strange forum
There's no question who made the new plugins, someone at the new company using JUCE. The question I was asking is who wrote the DSP? There is an absence of humans with names and engineering titles in the credits, which combined with the origin story of the company is, odd. Normally, plugin credits will have a single line for "DSP", followed by the names of one or more DSP engineers.

It would be quite easy to put that question to rest, and the question of whether this plugin is actually a component level circuit modeling of the hardware or not, but that hasn't happened yet.

But now the main question that worries me is, why would you be in the audio business if you are not able to hear what P821 is doing! That is the question that one should be investigating.
Exactly!

Moreover, today, I realized a new level of criticism. A plugin is not good because (surprise) they can not find the name of the DSP developer. Therefore, it must be rehashed—even though Pulsar Modular has ZERO products released earlier that take on Tape sound.

If one thinks P44 is the same as P821, I am speechless.

@P900
I do electronic music, and with testing the MDN Tape P821 on my mix bus, it adds a lot of warmth and character to the low end — maybe a bit too much, even with moderate settings (30ips, modulation off, hiss off). The Tape P821 sounds very different (in a good way) from my other tape simulations. Would you recommend the tape to be the first plugin in the master chain? I usually have a low cut first around 30Hz, then the Shadow Hills Mastering Compressor Class A, and finally an EQ before it goes into the FabFilter Pro-L2 Limiter.

That guys like a nuclear physicist, I would bet that plugin dr. Is pretty accurate.

When the low end or kick is too much with the default preset, then work the Lo shelf against the Lo Bias to carve up that low end.
P821 is a very non-linear plugin. So it is affected by the plugins that come before it in the chain. Some will enhance the sound and others will not. So experiment by moving p821 within your chain.

Can't really tell if I like this or not. as I don't really have a point of reference for it. I don't personally think it sounds like tape, but it is somewhat useful on an initial play-around. one strange thing about it though. it seems to sound different at different buffer sizes??? never come across that before in a plugin
