Ready to push the button on the new mac mini M4 pro coming from my 2017 (48gig ram) 4.2hz iMac. I usually use Logic & Cubase . Been trawling through YouTube for reviews but before I go ahead it would be interesting to hear from those on this forum who are usinhg it and their thoughts.

i use one for the Adobe Suite at work, the base model with the pro chip... also have it hooked up to an RME Babyface. It packs a punch for something so small and quiet. OS loads in the blink of an eye... once you wade through the waves of necessary user unfriendly Apple settings re-adjustments, pretty solid. this base model feels twice as fast as my m1 macbook pro, which i very rarely hit the ceiling on. i reckon i'd encourage the purchase of the 14 core model, those 2 extra cores (plus extra graphics cores) will make a difference. I guess it depends what you're running. My boss was too much of a tight-ass unfortunately
i've been running 2 x 2k monitors, apparently they can support three monitors?

I have an M4 Pro Macbook Pro and it is absurdly powerful. It will be a huge upgrade from an Intel iMac.

paying for the extra ram might be knee to the rattlers though.
even bumping to your current 48G will be what...400 bucks? but yes, it's absurdly powerful.

I upgraded from that same IMac to an m2pro mini with 16gb and am still having a blast. Like a never ending honeymoon.steveski wrote: Mon Apr 07, 2025 7:54 pm Ready to push the button on the new mac mini M4 pro coming from my 2017 (48gig ram) 4.2hz iMac. I usually use Logic & Cubase . Thanx for your replies. I sometimes can use quite a few 3rd party plugins and have had a few overload warnings on Logic. Reckon I better make my move before it becomes too costly with Trumps tariffs maybe pushing prices through the roof.
