The boss gt6 guitar unit...

What do you guys make of it ? If anyone uses/used it. How are the high gain patches ?

thanks

Hi Sidhu,

I have not used the GT6, but have its predecessor the ME-10 and also owned the ME-5. Maybe that helps, otherwise concider my reply as a bump. I think with Boss you get what you pay for (not too much.)

Nowadays I don't use the unit anymore, I've reverted completely from digital effect pedals and just overdrive my Orange valve amp plus a Tech-21 Tri-OD pedal for hi-gain sounds.

At the end its about taste. You might actually find the GT6 to be excellent (or not). Best advice is to visit a shop and try to compare it to a Line6 Pod, Behringer V-Amp Pro and/or Jackson J-Station, or anything else they have (best comparison is a real hi-gain amp)

the guitarist of a band that records with me has a GT6. They play metal. I tried to get a decent sound off the unit. Cud not. Ended up using greenmachine instead. No one is complaining.

If you want to use it with the PC the GS-10 might be the better choice. It has USB interface and an editor and the same and more effects as GT-6. I think it sounds good.I also use Guitar-rig.
It's about time for the past to end

I've got the GT-5 and still use it occasionally for some commercial live gigs. For anything else (especially recording) there's better things (Pod, VAmp, SansAmp, J-Station, whatever...).
Only played with the GT-6 in the shop briefly - defenitely better but not THAT much IMO.

i owned the boss me-5 and the korg ax 1000g.i think the boss multieffects aren´t too good.
but then i came across guitar rig which is my first choice for recording. if you´re looking for live gear i´d prefer either korg or pod. i haven´t tried digitech and sansamp stuff but i think they´re worth to be checked out, too.

I'm using GT6 daily and I'm pretty happy with it. It's not as intuitive to use as I would like (lots of menus and submenus in a small LCD display) and the compressor there sucks but the overall sound is very good and the amp modelling sounds very good recorded.

I play in styles ranging from metal to gothic rock and to experimental soundscape stuff and I use GT6 for everything. The only additional guitar FX I have is Morley "Bad Horsie" wah pedal. 8)

Well, the guitar rig seems attractive. But i dont play guitar, at least not the 6string type. Maybe strum a little, but thats bout it. And a little bass. But im no good. I do record a lot of guitar though. And no one out here has decent gear. Mostly zooms and boss's. geared towards live gigs.

I really want to invest in a POD pro. Dont have any money.:D Does guitar rig come close ? Espesially high gain sounds. I find a lot of multi effect units can do clean/overdriven sounds well. But not when it comes to metal/thrash high gain. all help appreciated.

Thank you.
