Darkpalace Studio - Sloth slew rate limiter plugin

I think the most obvious use case is having a track that is too harsh in the highs but EQ doesn't quite solve it without making the track too dull overall. A slew rate limiter in its sweet spot will just remove the harshness but keep the overall vibe. Think of clicky hihats/shakers or a percussive synth line.
It can also be used on the mixbus but imho nothing beats airwindows air4 and mastering there.

Sorry for the late reply, but let me get back to this one.noiseresearch wrote: Sat Apr 12, 2025 3:24 pm I wonder how Sloth is doing on the main bus. There is a demo track on the website but leaning towards being an obvious effect; I wonder how a usage for mastering would sound like. Do you think Sloth is suitable for subtle mastering duties?
Constant and free updates are one of our core values. As a customer I cannot stand it when you pay for a product, just to learn some months later that it is now obsolete and that you need to pay a (often hefty) upgrade fee.
I personally use it a lot on the main bus as a darkening/volume effect for fading out over the last section of a song. Slew rate limiting has a way more interesting texture compared to a simple volume or filter ride.
Then there is a different approach to using Sloth, which I think goes more into the direction of your question. When used only slightly (or at least mildly with a lower mix value) it can bring some grit and (for a better word) warmth to a track.
While the plugin was designed as a heavier working sound shaping tool, it also excels at more subtle mastering tasks. Up to 16x oversampling, a fully parallel mix knob and optional mid/side processing support that option.

Hey all! We just released another free update for SLOTH, bumping it up to version 1.2.2, these are the highlights:
- Preset Grouping: First introduced in TINY-CATERPILLAR, you can now group presets together so they appear under the same group
- Installer Adjustments: We made the installing experience better and more streamlined
- General Bug-Fixes: As we are constantly improving our codebase, all of our plugins will see the benefits!
Check out SLOTH over here and for more information about the update check out our blogpost

I used Sloth on a buss just yesterday to give it an analog transformer-like feel by just nudging the slopes a tad.
Worked like a charm. I love this plugin and have so far found nothing else on the market that does what it does.
