When I was on Windows I used Ambeo Orbit for years. Loved what it did to the sound. Now its DearVR Micro for my Mac. Yay.
At work I have a Sennheiser Ambeo mic setup that never gets used. Maybe I'll play around with it now.

It says it can be downloaded directlyBeeDog wrote: Thu Mar 27, 2025 5:46 am Just a quick note for those downloading the plugins using the individual links in the email sendout:
There's no link for dearVR MIX-SE, but it is included in the "All plugins" zip (i.e. 10 plugins instead of only 9).
"I have dearVR MIX-SE – what happens now?
A
As all Dear Reality plugins, dearVR MIX-SE will no longer be developed or maintained. However, you can download the plugin for free here."

A question for those who use these plugins. I have DearVR Music from PA but never used it. Does this (and the pro version) get used
-instead of- a traditional reverb plugin or
-together with- a reverb plugin (maybe just late reflections)?

I've used it a bit. It's more for the placement of tracks within a 3D sound space. If using reverb I would put the reverb after it. Place the sound in space and then treat it.jbraner wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 4:46 pm A question for those who use these plugins. I have DearVR Music from PA but never used it. Aah OK thanks - so it's really for placement, but nothing to do with ie room reverb?

It includes a basic reverb too, so if you want to put reverb after it you should switch that off.jbraner wrote: Sun Mar 30, 2025 7:29 pm Aah OK thanks - so it's really for placement, but nothing to do with ie room reverb?

Question: does anyone actually think these plugins are good?
I demoed one of them a few months ago when setting up a virtual mixing environment for headphones, and passed on it.
I’ve given them a second look once they became free, but my opinion really hasn’t changed. They all seem to do more or less the same thing, and not very well. Free is a good price for them.
APL Viruoso, on the other hand, is actually pretty mind blowing. But it costs quite a bit more than free.

They've been part of Sennheiser for nearly 6 years

Oh odd. I think I heard they were working with Sennheiser a while back, not that they were owned by them.

I used DearVR Pro v1 (bought on PA) to create 5.1 versions soundtracks for my first two work-in-progress games to be released on Steam ASAP. Fortunately I didn't pay for the v2 upgrade which is now free to everyone.
The DearVR Pro v1 is pretty good for creating multi-channel surround tracks. With Reaper I managed to automate its functions pretty easily in order to move sound around in the virtual audio 3D space. The results can be excellent depending on how much time you spend tweaking settings to reach the desired effect.
I am trying to add some extra soundtracks for the games (assembling maps and assets takes a lot of time unfortunately so I am always behind schedule) so I will use DearVR Pro v.2.1 that is now free for those.
