Album Artwork... Where? How? What?

Just for kicks, this is straight up Adobe AI, which they have interestingly decided to monetize now,
you have to spend credits (that you can buy in addition to those granted with your sub) to use their
generative AI I guess.

Firefly text to image in Photoshop. I asked for number of planets floating in
a nebula or something. Anyway, I thought it was interesting, not to mention
the crazy Adobe AI monetization thing that I wasn't aware of.

I mean, it looks like a pretty nice album cover...

I use Microsoft CoPilot. There's also much to be had in taking close ups of interesting textures/things on your phone. This can be problematic because I'm required to have an image at least 2000 X 2000 pixels. Surprisingly, The MS Photo app does this better than MS Paint.
CoPilot can get really close to what I want. You have to check and make sure nothing weird is in there. I did one once and there were all these tiny syringes and pills lying around.
I have also been blank on what kind of art would fit a song and CP is very helpful with that. I wish I could pay an actual artists, but I'm not even sure I'll be able to pay the Distributor this year.

Personally, I don’t see the problem with using AI, you still have to guide the thing. Anyway,
it’s not going to go away, just need to figure
out how to incorporate it into the business,
in an appropriate manner.

Most of the Artists I know are more interested
in it than they are against it, at least from a
curiosity standpoint.

It will go away if we all agree to stop using it. The problem I have with AI is, it's not mine. It's the result of a collaboration which is often non-consensual. If that's okay with you, I don't know what to say. I take a hard line on this stuff and I don't consider inevitability to be a good excuse.
I argue that the output of AI is not the art of the person who wrote the prompt. I'd say the people who coded the algorithms and the people who's art the algorithms were trained on have more claim to the output than the person who wrote the prompt.

I won't tell artists not to use AI but I will tell them that I won't even consider listening to their music if they are using AI for their visual media.

That's a very nice way of saying it's theft.

Many artists do the same thing, e.g. they use photography as a base, without permission, you
only need paint over every pixel, then it’s perfectly legal. I don’t see any difference.

Just because it's legal, doesn't make it right. I wouldn't do that either.

It’s generally perfectly accepted, lot of concept art is done like that, it’s way faster when time
is paramount. They get paid for it, quite well
in some cases and are quite famous and sought after in the business. The results are barely similar to the original works in every area.

Anyway, that’s just one way it’s done, personally, I think it’s wrong to criticize the method, its even taught at art schools.

Hey man, do what you want and justify it any way you'd like. I will do the same.

Post

I’m just saying, not trying to argue. Do you think it’s wrong to do the model making ala Star Wars
to design spaceships? Using photos is essentially
the same thing, someone had to designe the models and the item they are based on for that
matter.

Anyway, whatever, not trying to offend here,
just offer a different perspective.

It's all good. As artists, I think we should have strong opinions about art.
There is no point in trying to convince me of your perspective on this. I'm not going to agree but you may convince others. I will likely be seen as a Luddite or an elitist but I'm not mad about that. I'm just voicing my opinion as you are.

Post

Fair enough, I’m mostly trying to understand as opposed to convince, as I respect your opinions
a lot.

Anyway, no worries….

I use Fotor.com . They have templates for logos, album covers, etc. You can use AI or your own images.
