Firstly lots of gratitude for Richard and Brian for their relentless efforts.

I'm really happy with what I made this month with Thorn (and the results) and would like to congratulate everyone, esp Taron, toadhjo, ZioMau and johnkhf, for their amazing contributions this month!

Also, special thanks to Taron for his guidance, encouragement and relentless support! My gratitude also for The Sound Of Merlin for his wonderful feedback and suggestions.

Hey everyone! I had a great time participating this month and really enjoyed listening to everyone's tracks. DS Thorn is truly a lovely synth and there's no shortage of talent and creativity in the community here.

On a personal note, well, it's been a very long and winding road, but I think I've finally recovered from the shame and embarrassment of creating possibly the worst snare ever in OSC120. (The track is still out there if you want to hear it lol)

I'm a bit unclear on the prize rules. I already have a licensed copy of DS Thorn -- would it be possible to pass that prize on to the fourth place winner and claim a copy of Audio Thing Outer Space instead?

I very rarely leave comments on the topic, but there is something that annoys me for several months already.
I started making music for OSC several years ago and at that time my music lacked quality and consistency. And of course it was badly mixed and mastered. But I was receiving much more positive feedback and I was placed much higher in the rankings (even hit the top 5 spot several times).
Now I only receive parroted comments about my bad mixing over and over again, and I'm sick of it. I came here to find new listeners to my music (am I joking to myself?), but I found distraction instead.
For my further submissions, any constructive feedback regarding composition, arrangement or aesthetic are welcome. All comments about the mix will be removed...

Actually, I really like what you wrote. People focusing on mix quality so much that they sometimes forget listen to the music. And sure - mix can be bad or good, but everyone does it as they can or want. Over the years (and practice), everyone eventually develops their own method and style. Some bands are known for having a "dirty" sound, sometimes even a "garage sound", which somehow doesn't bother listeners (it does bother audiophiles). If I don't like the sound, I can always turn the bass down a bit or boost the treble, or... Or just listen, and after 30 seconds my ears get used to any sound. Sure, there's always room for improvement, but that's up to the creator, not the critics. Music supposed to be a happy experience. And what is more important - I don't really understand when someone wrote comments "I don't like this or that". If I don't like some band, I do not write comments about how much I don't like them. I just listen other bands I like.

So don't worry - you'll never satisfy everyone, but most important is that your listeners (those, who choose to listen to your music) will be happy.

This was a general opinion when it came to making music, but perhaps in the case of OSC, where you willingly expose yourself to the criticism of others, sometimes you have to accept that some people pay a lot of attention to the mix.

I thought you had a top track. Some glitch with it originally showing up with "error" in the voting ruined your placement. I liked your mix just fine. I think you could just say that's how you want to mix it. And people will then stop going on about it.

I still don't get what happened to your track, VCA? It was removed and I must've missed what else went on after that? I'd assume, though don't know, that I'm not the only one that ended up not knowing what to do with it and just putting it into the 1 slot. ....it would explain the low result for you more than your music, which somehow felt very consistently fine in the years that I know you!

And, yeah, people go all nuts about mixing, which is a phase that may have its perks to some degree, because it could inspire improvements there, but it'll blow over eventually. Hang in there!
I think this is also because quite a few new musicians have joined in recent times and it's part of finding orientation possibly?!

Far worse I found the heated discussion about the rules, because it created likely a lot more anxiety in the whole process of creating tracks, taking away some of the wonderful ease we have experienced in the early years. I sure hope that also blows over more quickly so we can resume just having proper fun without too many worries.

I had a good ranking despite a sad and melancholic track with which I wanted to share a cry against wars, bearers of death, destruction... wanted only by those few shits who enrich themselves with power and money. I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!

Talking about the prize, don't know if i have to wait some update. I understood that Exponent goes with triple special prize; Taron wth Thorn+Tantra and Toadhjo with Outer Space. I'd like to receive DAWESOME MYTH if possible...and thank you for the gift (but tell me if i have to wait..)

I'm not sure if Taron will change his prize to a Dawesome product or not, but regardless of his choice I'll stick with Outer Space.

Novum and Myth are tempting but if I'm being honest with myself I'll probably get more use out of a good Space Echo emulation.
