SEM V is a great so I wonder what might be new in it. Pure LoFi/Jupiter! Must be good. Love the layout on LoFi. Cool key design!db3 wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:36 am The OP at Audiosex has now removed their first post. Although, later in the thread they posted this image which also included Pure LoFi and SEM. I'm 50:50 on this being fake.

It said 7 new instruments, and so far we know 6:
Pure LoFi
Jup-8000V
Synthx V
MiniBrute V
SEM V
Augmented Mallets
I think that means the last would be Augmented Yangtze (with the augmented series having some kind of refresh)

Yangtze. Probably figures. I feel like listening to a few 8000V demo's to get in the mood in case I want a bundle upgrade. I'm on V9 if I recall. I never used my collection alot except for Fragments and Synthi V mostly. I plan to build patches SOME DAY or night. I'm night phased currently. Going back to the day phase before long. Not just a night owl.noiseboyuk wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 10:12 am It said 7 new instruments, and so far we know 6:

By the looks of the Youtube clip I just found in theory the image of the JP-8000V is interpolated from it. Serious chance still there might still be a 2600 update or Modular V update. The image of the JP-8000 looks like it's just a keyboard drawing.

On that list the Jup-8000v would be the instrument that most people would have any interest in especially if it has extra goodies
But most of the people who didn't upgrade to X are not paying $299 for that and as an owner of X, I would have a hard time paying $199 for it and will just hold out to when it's on sale individually

If that pic is real, then it's a pretty good fake because it looks like it follows the architecture/layout of the JP-8000. Osc1 on the real JP is the one with all the special waveforms, supersaw, feedback, etc...OSC 2 is barebones, just like how it looks in the pic. What I am not seeing is the layering functionality of the JP, which is similar to the Jupiter's. Arturia didn't include that feature in their Jupiter, and it looks like they won't have it here either, which is a shame because the Performance Patches are where the JP-80x0 shines. They'll probably tell us we can use analog lab to layer...but it's not the same. It also makes me wonder if the hidden settings of the JP will be included, like the analog envelope setting for example. I also don't see the bass & treble EQ knobs on the front which is somewhat of an essential JP sound design tool that adds a lot to the classic JP sound. These apparent differences make me think that syx support will not be included, but you never know. Anyway, looks like I won't be retiring my hardware JP-8080 anytime soon, but at least it will be nice to have half of a JP-80x0 in software, especially if they really nail the sound.

Well, if this really is the list of instruments in V Collection 11, I will be staying with Version 9. Nothing in v10 was of interest to me. And certainly nothing in v11.noiseboyuk wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 10:12 am It said 7 new instruments, and so far we know 6:

The Synthx V is a snooze, IMO. It sounds nice, but nothing special. I honestly prefer the Cherry Audio version, which I think sounds better. (Whether it is as authentic, I can't say.)
And I can't get over how terrible and lifeless the MiniBrute V sounds (to me at least). Does the hardware instrument sound this bad?
An improved SEM would be welcome. But not for my upgrade price of $299.
Although the Augmented series instruments sound nice, I would rather buy sample libraries for Falcon, HALion, or Kontakt if I don't already have these sounds.
I realize everyone is eagerly awaiting the JP8000. But why? I owned an AN1x, Nord Rack 1, and Virus A back when I bought my JP8000. I hadn't even heard the JP8000 but knew a couple of people who had created patches for it. But once I got my JP8000, I thought it was a one-trick pony. Only the supersaw sounds did anything for me. So I returned it.
By the time the Trance thing (which I was never into) had exploded, I owned a Virus TI2 and a slew of plugins (Sylenth, Dune, Spire, etc.) that could do even better supersaw leads and plucks. So I don't understand all the excitement around the JP8000. Doesn't everyone already own at least five synth plugins that can create even better VA/supersaw sounds? You can get The Usual Suspects "osTIrus" Virus TI emulation for free.

I already have the Korg Prophecy, the Usual Suspects Virus TI, and would love to have an AN1x, and a Novation Supernova plugin to have all the 90s VA glory
Beyond Supersaw and Trance, Roland marketed it for better or for worse as a digital Jupiter 8. It was always fun to use it as an emulation of early 1980s analog Polysynths especially with the ring mod and delay/chorus that's what I would use it for
My hope is Arturia had modeled the effects section really well and added a few new features like a reverb and of course more polyphony

The good news is that The Usual Suspects are starting work on their Supernova emulation. Unfortunately, the only way to get an AN1x in software (or at least the modern version of it) is to buy a new Yamaha Montage M6, M7, or M8 keyboard, which include a plugin version that apparently does everything the hardware does but in software. But here's the kicker: You can't buy the plugin separately. How dumb is that?IvyBirds wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 10:17 pmI already have the Korg Prophecy, the Usual Suspects Virus TI, and would love to have an AN1x, and a Novation Supernova plugin to have all the 90s VA gloryHyperbole wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:19 pm So I don't understand all the excitement around the JP8000. Does Yamaha really think I want their ROMpler, FM, and AN-X engines so badly in software that I will spend anywhere from $3,500 to $4,500 to get them? Especially when HALion 7 offers even more? They're insane. They are leaving money on the table by not selling the plugin separately, as Korg does with the plugin versions of their hardware synths.

I have the hardware and the software, the Montage 8m is my main gigging board unfortunately I don't find the new VA Engine to be anything like the AN1X, it's a modern 2024 VA with Yamaha flavor it's cool but it's not really the same.Hyperbole wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 5:00 amThe good news is that The Usual Suspects are starting work on their Supernova emulation. The plugin is nice but it really needs the actual synth connected via USB in use as a controller to be productive beyond the presets. It's an interesting way to bring Montage sounds into your DAW but if you are going to do that, you should just use the synth itself and connect it via USB as it's 16 part multimbral over USB and has insane polyphony so there is no need to use CPU or RAM when you can just off load it to your $4500 synth

Interesting. I was led to believe that the Montage's "AN-X" engine is an updated version of the AN1x. Oh well, now there's even less of a reason to buy a hardware Montage.IvyBirds wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 5:10 am I have the hardware and the software, the Montage 8m is my main gigging board unfortunately I don't find the new VA Engine to be anything like the AN1X, it's a modern 2024 VA with Yamaha flavor it's cool but it's not really the same.
