That just shows you it's not the code that counts it's the idea behind it

My example: I asked Chat to design a supersaw patch for Massive X. I told it to read the manual. It said it did, then the first thing it told me to do was put a 2 saw waves in with 7 Unison voices each. I then told it Massive X only has 6 Unison voices and they're for the entire instrument. Then, it tells me I'm absolutely correct, it was mistaken.
Fail.
Fail.

What AI (and soon AGI and ASI) has already shown us is that intelligence and perhaps consciousness is not really unique in our universe at all. It is an naturally occurring emergent system that the universe is predisposed to.

That is 100% correct. You can train a monkey to write code. They even call them code monkeys.Touch The Universe wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 8:18 pm That just shows you it's not the code that counts it's the idea behind it

I am NOT an expert, but I imagine that in the future, something like "converting" code to Apple Silicon (it's more complex than simply "recompiling," as I understand it) would be one of the best uses of AI coding tools. Developers are loath to do this work because it's a slog.jamcat wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 7:53 pm ChatGPT can design, write, test, and debug entire code. Which is why it's such BS that there are some developers who can't seem to get their plugins ported to Apple Silicon.
But how many smaller synth plugin developers are familiar with these relatively recent tools? Such tools seem more prevalent in Enterprise settings, where corporations are always looking to reduce headcount, especially among highly paid engineers.

Dang, i might finally be having a synth of my own incoming here shortly. I'm already testing out this idea and it works and is fascinating and sounds really cool. Wow, just wow. I'll see how far i can go with just chatgtp and specializing only in the coding areas which make the synth unique - or new synthesis. So cool, so cool.
Thanks to person making this thread and giving me idea to throw my long held synth idea that i was too poor to hire a coder for, haha.

A question for those using ChatGPT in this thread. Are you using the free version available on the web? I asked it to generate a midi file for me and it thought a while, then it failed. When I refined the question it said I had run out of computes and to try again tomorrow evening or pay for an upgraded version of ChatGPT. Seemed strange to me.
I asked the same question in Grok and got a great answer including a pointer to a file online that contained a good bit of what I wanted as well as a python script to generate the code directly on my PC for me if desired. Has anyone else tried Grok for this exercise?

If you sign up for a free Outook.com email address you get 15 GB of mailbox storage, access to the free versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, 5 GB of OneDrive storage, AND access to Microsoft Copilot, which I believe uses ChatGPT 4o. Unlike the free version of ChatGPT, there are no usage restrictions (for a normal, non-spam user).inaheartbeat wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 12:28 am A question for those using ChatGPT in this thread. I canceled my ChatGPT Plus account because Copilot was meeting my needs. I do miss the standalone Mac app. However, I created a web app for Copilot using the Bing browser. That's basically the same as having a dedicated desktop app. FYI, this Copilot web app is different from the Copilot features in the Bing sidebar. You can create a similar Copilot web app using Safari if you prefer.

Say what? How exactly would that work? Does ChatGPT read the values of various parameters based on the knob or slider positions within the screenshots (using some estimate based on the known range of the parameter)? Even for mod matrix settings in something like Serum?ROTMetro wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 4:00 am I'm on the + plan.
So you can upload screenshots of your patch and ask for help. I had a Generate patch that was clicking and it walked me through to what was causing it.
If so, that would indeed be impressive!
