Im myself only interested in JP8000 for nostalgia reasons. I have played with it, used it and its not extraordinary anymore since forever. It was in the 2000s tho, but not anymore. In the end ill probably demo it and say its cool and thats it.
P.s. There is an upgraded JP version called System 8.

Interestingly, since the original post at Audiosex was deleted, a mod has posted this:
"Okay lets keep this a speculation topic. Feel free to discuss till 24th April. I know more, but i cant tell. Lets just wait until the 24th April 2025 for the final reveal, then we know more from Arturia itself."

So it looks like they're only updating the SEM this time. Was really hoping the Arp 2600 or Modular would be getting an update. If not, this may be my first passnoiseboyuk wrote: Thu Apr 17, 2025 10:12 am It said 7 new instruments, and so far we know 6:
Pure LoFi
Jup-8000V
Synthx V
MiniBrute V
SEM V
Augmented Mallets
I think that means the last would be Augmented Yangtze (with the augmented series having some kind of refresh)

SEM is a very bizarre choice to have picked for sure. It has always been well received, whereas we all know there are others in the archive that need love.Zipede wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 10:48 amSo it looks like they're only updating the SEM this time. It's not a hugely compelling list for me either. But in 18 months time on Black Friday when it's $99, it'll probably be time for me to weaken.

Earlier, I thought I have this pattern in which the Modular V and ARP 2600 would be the next in line for a major update. Now I wouldn't try to predict anything. I guess it is much bigger to re-do (and test out) than any pre-wired synth.SHall1000 wrote: Fri Apr 18, 2025 3:15 pm I wonder if we will ever see an update to Modular V. I suspect it would be too much work to create a UI improvement, but hope I am wrong.

Yep, this is the same JP8000 I bought and sold within two weeks back in 1997. It's the same thin, grating, shrill, plastic sound I had put out of my mind for nearly 30 years. And now Arturia is bringing it back. Why Arturia? Do you hate me and want to see me suffer? Can I pay you $299 to keep it OUT of V Collection 11?

Certainly not “augmented” ROMplers and digital new millennium VAs.
THIS MUSIC HAS BEEN MIXED TO BE PLAYED LOUD SO TURN IT UP

I went from maybe version 8 to 10. It had some decent stuff added. Also some stuff I'll probably never use. Their nicer stuff is about as good as anything out (MPE and MTS ESP support with nice sound engines). Id be perfectly happy to see them just update and improve what they already have in there unless they can license some really cool digital synths.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

The Arturia Mini V4 sounds good. But Arturia will need to work A LOT harder to get my cash when I also own The Legend (and now The Legend HZ,) Model 72, and Minimonsta2, all of which I am more likely to use. If I want authenticity, I will usually reach for the Model 72. If I want more modulation options and better FX, I will go with Minimonsta2. So I am not missing Arturia's Mini V4.jamcat wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 1:37 am I only updated last time because of the Mini upgrade. In recent years Arturia has lost the plot and my interest.
In the past, I might have asked Arturia for Microwave 1 and/or Microwave II/XT emulations in the next version of V Collection. But Waldof has released their spot-on Microwave 1 emulation and The Usual Suspects are now supporting the Microwave II/XT with their DSP56300 emulator. Or I might have asked for Nord Lead 2 (WAY before the JP8000) and Nord Lead 3 emulations. But here, too, there is no point in Arturia emulating these synths when I can run the original code using The Usual Suspects' emulator (or in the case of the Nord Lead 3, at some point in the not-too-distant future, as that synth is on The Usual Suspects' roadmap).
Given that Arturia has already emulated most of the better-known classic synths, I would like to see an emulation of something a bit more off-the-beaten-path (but still very musically useful) like the Dave Smith PolyEvolver or Mutable Instruments Ambika.
The Evolver is a totally unique-sounding synth that was relatively popular during its production run. If Arturia released a Poly Evolver emulation (with more polyphony,) I would line up outside the (virtual) door to get one. That would be a must-have upgrade for me.
The same goes for the Ambika. However, the problem with the Ambika is that it is not very well-known, and it doesn't have an iconic hardware UI for Arturia to mindlessly ape with their pretty, but less efficient, skeuomorphic interfaces.
In both of these cases, I still own the hardware, so I can wait it out until Arturia finally (if ever) comes around.

Since DSI/Sequential is part of Focusrite/Novation now it wouldn't surprise me to see GForce make an official release of the evolver since they seem to work well with Focusrite who also own OberheimHyperbole wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:50 am Given that Arturia has already emulated most of the better-known classic synths, I would like to see an emulation of something a bit more off-the-beaten-path (but still very musically useful) like the Dave Smith PolyEvolver or Mutable Instruments Ambika.

Having said that the evolver uses the Prophet VS waveforms which of course Arturia already uses in its excellent Prophet VS Emulation so it would make sense for Arturia to explore that one also

I like the GForce plugins, most of which I own. They sound good and extend the originals in useful and interesting ways. However, it almost seems as if GForce forces (excuse the pun!) its models of the original synth's oscillators and filters into their existing framework (which includes their X-Mod and X-LFO modulation system) rather than developing a bespoke emulation from the ground up.IvyBirds wrote: Sat Apr 19, 2025 6:23 am

Of course, I'm sure Arturia reuses lots of software building blocks across their plugins, even beyond FX algorithms and the standard preset browser. But still, I think Arturia would likely create a more faithful emulation of the Evolver.
