It only doesn't do one thing: Emulate the SH-101.

It emulates SH 101 enough for the bass to sound the same. What SH101 does is convices that people need this crap to have while you really dont, because most of people here probably dont make music but collect vsts instead, to compensate some insecurities

Yep and emulates sh101 too.chk071 wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:05 pm So, what does Diva do?
Oh, right, it emulates analog synthesizers.
Damn.
What does it give you that model 82 emulates sh101? In what scenario you cant use anything else but only model 82?

What does it give you that Diva emulates the Minimoog, Jupiter, MS-20, or the JP-8k? In which scenario can't you use anything but these synths?
Every emulation's point is obviously to give you the sound and architecture of the emulated devices. Or to let you combine their components as modules, in Diva's case.
There are synths which can do a lot more than Diva. Why don't you use those? Why do you limit yourself to what Diva can do?

You can use any synth to make music. You can sticks and stones if you want. But you really like the 101 sound, diva doesn't quite do it. With some effort you can get something kinda close, but one of the things that's enjoyable about these simple sounds is that it does the thing(s) you want quickly. If Diva gives you the sound you want, great. But if I or anyone enjoys using a 101 emulation, because it's fun and does the sound we want quickly, then that's what works. Just a tool. All it has to do is make the sound you want and be fun doing it hopefully. So that's why I have 2 101 emulations (Model 82 and tal).Lbdunequest wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:09 pmYep and emulates sh101 too.chk071 wrote: Mon Feb 12, 2024 9:05 pm So, what does Diva do?

I have both and as much as I like Diva. It does not emulate the Sh-101 particularly well. Look I get it the 101 is a very simple synth that dosen't have much to offer in terms of features blabla. But when I want the signature electro / detroit techno bouncy synth bass it just delivers. If those sounds are not important for the type of music you make, don't buy it. Of course Diva is a better synth overall and way more versatile but M82 is excellent at covering it's little niche.

Slightly OT, but I did a test some while ago comparing the sound of TAL Bassline and the Elektron Analog Four, and to my surprise I could match the presets incredibly well. It wasn't a very deep comparison, just a couple of presets, but still. Interesting.

A 101 gives you a very different sound when blending waveforms compared to Diva. I would love it if Diva could do the 101 sound so I could have one less synth, but it can't.

I have experienced, if i do a midi CC Mapping beetween my Hardware Synth and Softube Model 72, 80, 82 and 84 and record the Midi CC in Ableton, the Plugin Automation gets also recorded, like if i have moved these parameters with a mouse or have done a DAW midi mapping. This is traight forward, so I can safe for every Softube Synth a Midi CC Layout that is matched to my hardware synth and do plug and play recordings. No more midi mapping for each track and more than 8 macros like ableton / bitwig / Komplete Kontrol
Midi CC has the big disadvantage that is has no start parameter , so every recorded parameter starts with Zereo -and is USELESS.
Now the softube Synths are like real Hardware Synths - not only soundwise !! For example i have a roland System 1M that has the same parameters and layout like most other analog emulations (3 OSC / ADSR / Filter / FX ) so they are fixed mapped to the softube synth and can be used plug and play in every DAW and the Automation Recording has the big advantage over Audio Recording, that it takes less disc space and can be edited afterwards.
There is only one problem with Ableton that it also records the Midi CC lanes, so I have to delete every single midi CC lane afterwards. If i delete all automations, the softsynth automations gets also deleted.
Is there a workaround or way to record only the Plugin automations without midi CC parameters ???? On Ableton it might be something with Overdub or monitoring, but i wasn't able to record the plugin automations without midi CC

Wow.
The Softube synths has really gotten cheap when you wait for one of their random sales
I bought all of them at their introduction prices so no chance of getting that money back if I decided to sell them
That is how it goes when you buy things to fast these days in todays Economy where prices are lowered to have a chance of making sales.
Anyway. Happy to see that people with a low budget can get a Chance to get some great Plugins too
