Testing the updated/release version of Concatenator using a Zebra synth sound as audio input triggering thousands of samples loaded into RAM (roundabout 56 GB). Very weird stuff...

The one shot mode is great for sound replacing drum sounds in breakbeats.

I've been playing random breakbeats and loading the corpus with various drum one shot sets with great results.

It's pretty amazing to have the articulation and dynamics of a breakbeat but playing different sounds.

Is the audio & paramaters captured in a buffer?
Can you play back a segment that you liked to tweak further?
Or do you have to keep recording the audio (DAW or 3rd party software) to capture all the sounds and tweak from there?
I can't find anything within the plugin that allows capture or playback of something I liked.
Am I missing it or it doesn't exist within the plugin?
I only see undo and redo which I guess is the norm for settings.
I'd like to be able to adjust the mix levels and maybe modulate further within segment that I liked.
Possible or not?

I suggest recording your audio live as you play around! Eventually we will add more precision controls like this but for now it’s got a whole life of its own as an instrument!
There is however the new “Freeze” mode which forces it to continue to re-use the same samples you’re currently cycling through "

So answer is no for anyone looking for an answer to this question.
For me It's in need of a buffer capture of the loop playing, what played and the paramenters applied in that pass through of the loop for editing within the plugin as audio capture can't quite create the same editing requirments that I, and I am sure many others have in mind for tweaking.
I'd like to be able to go back to that 10 seconds and mix the input & output levels and perhaps play further with the individual variations by possibly adding in and out samples or randomising something within that segment that doesn't quite fit or perhaps can be improved upon.
If only audio is captured then this isn't possible unless taken to a sampler and eidted there.

We will have an update before the end of the year that will hopefully address these desires to dig deeper and more precisely! For now, try freeze for more deterministic results, and capture the audio output as you jam. "

This update will be a pro version by sounds of it so maybe an additional charge;

We are planning some amazing pro features which I think will fulfill your use cases well enough before the end of the year. "

Hope this provides insight to anyone seeking answers on this or curious about such features.

Reducing the polyphony and variation parameters and enabling only a small sample pool (corpus) significantly increases the predictability of the results.

Post

Getting predictable rest with a massive pile of samples is very tricky. I like to bounce a few passes with different samples enabled to audio and then grab the better parts from that if I'm going for something more specific.

Using one of my Battalion beats to trigger a sample pool (corpus) of mainly vocal samples (speech/voice effects) and some industrial sounds recorded in a car factory.

Interesting plugin. How does it compare to Audiostellar?
Duality without regard to physicality

Finally checked out the new update. I love the grain size parameter. It makes it way easier to specialize how the corpus reacts to the Input and tames things in a nice way. Before I'd get seemingly random blasts of very long samples even with the stickiness turned way down.

It also makes pitch tracking for more reliable/consistent

Concatenator's purpose is matching the input signal to the corpus. ie. It's more of an effect than an instrument.

Audiostellar is more similar to Graphiti by Red Timbre audio.

Dang, I just watched 4 videos on Audiostellar, and I still have no idea WTF it is.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

I haven't tried audiostellar. It (concatenator) does quite well at matching grains to the Input signal. I'd like more control of analysis and playback but I always want more control, especially when there's a trade-off between time and frequency. Having global resampling of the corpus would be fun too but might kill the ram use. I've been using it to remake synth lines and drum sequences out of spoken and sung recordings mostly. I keep meaning to fill it with Foley sounds but haven't gotten around to it.
