I don't think I've been a regular here since at least 2019, and it's probably been longer than that. I am trying to get myself re-focused and start making some more of my silly little ambient tunes. Not gonna be a star. Not gonna sell anything. Likely not even gonna be admired. I just want to get deep into it again just for me. Maybe I'll even add some real guitar, an instrument that I actually play.
Feel free to encourage me. lol.

Everybody is different so hard to know what will inspire anybody these days... Sometimes new DAWs I find boring so make music in retro trackers, which is a challenge thus satisfying when finishing a tune... Certainly not for everybody-

Althought I might be "better off dead" (dirtgrain), my immersion into electronic music did "wax and then wane" (eLawnMust). I think it will come back around. A lot has happened since those days- being laid off started it to stay sane. Getting a low pay retail labor job ended it (too tired to continue). I'm retired now (old too)...I have the time.

Everything sounds great now. It's a joy just to sit and listen to what software can do, in a way that I personally don't think was happening 6 years ago. Most things are a lot cheaper now, too.

^ Wow. I was just looking into learning drums (at my old age), looking at electric drum kits. I was thinking maybe I should get a kit with the extra optional drums, but now I see five pieces is plenty enough. That drummer rocks.
Doing nothing is only fun when you have something you are supposed to do.

What?... Everything has been sounding great for decades now, If it sounded good THEN it still sounds good NOW... Problem is too much FX being used nowadays... All many tunes are now is soundFX stringed together, which ain't music...Uncle E wrote: Sun Apr 20, 2025 4:20 am Everything sounds great now. This is one of my old attempts that I still like. I want to do something like this again.

To me “personally”, everything sounds better now. All my old favorites sound even better than before because of Luna and Verve, which didn’t exist in 2019. Maybe OP will have the same experience and find inspiration from it.eLawnMust wrote: Sun Apr 20, 2025 3:16 pm What?... Well, I don't even know what Luna and Verve are. In my case, I have most of the big boy synths and plugs from the 2015 or so era. I have more potential than I can wrap my head around just with the stuff I already have. I spent over $15K back then just to have everything that was remotely interesting. From here, it's up to ME to do something creative with it. I have little talent, but who knows? I just want to enjoy the process, get immersed, and surprise myself. Ever notice that when you loop things for hours making changes that it starts to grow on you, no matter how many little booboos are still in it? I listen to my own music at times.Uncle E wrote: Sun Apr 20, 2025 8:41 pmTo me “personally”, everything sounds better now. Yes, that's basically why I make music these days. When I need a break from work, I take a few minutes and set up a basic loop, then come back to it at various times throughout the day. It's fun and it keeps me from getting stressed about things.rustman wrote: Sun Apr 20, 2025 9:33 pm Ever notice that when you loop things for hours making changes that it starts to grow on you, no matter how many little booboos are still in it? eLawnMust inspired and so he could inspire you too!
Tonight I was watching YouTube videos on how to use MilkyTracker (circa 1980-something... 1990-something)
MilkyTracker is still available from my software server in Manjaro Linux, so I'm gonna try it out.
At least it's cheaper (it's freeware) than buying a PolyEnd Tracker LOL
And if I'm lucky, maybe I'll get some interesting rhythms out of it.
And if I can do it, then you can do it. (think of Rocky Balboa speech uniting Russia and USA)
(I couldn't find the USA - Russia speech)
