Hi
There is 25% off on WUP looking at my Waves account, and thought it might be worth it since mine expired dec 2014. My 9.92 version shell is updated april 2018.
- so just $180 max price for over 100 plugins total
But also concerned if I might enter issues with main daw Sonar being updated last feb. 2016. And siddenly run v15 of Waves plugins inside.
Current is all running nicely on windows 11, but if to buy into some more plugins mixed versions is bound to create issues, I think. New scalable UI maybe and hi dpi stuff etc that is modern.
- things might not be compatible with Sonar anymore
Any experience with this, re-entering wup after many years?
Since the bought v9 of Waves I could update for 4 years with bugfixes and such.
- yes, WUP actually allow this, but you don't get new plugins added to bundles etc
- that is a misconception by many that it's just for a year bugs are fixed
Now Waves is on v15, and seems to have shorter lifespan you get updates, or?
- new main version every year kind of
Thanks.

I would just contact Waves support with all your questions and concerns.
They are usually quick and friendly sorting things out.

I did, but often its cheaper to upgrade to a bundle containing what you own already. Just wait for one of the upgrade sales…

Sonar's last update ist prett recent, so why are you running such an old version? Because you paid for it, while the updated Version ist free?

Thanks. Yes their support is top notch, but it is in their interest that I update of course.martinjuenke wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 6:23 am I would just contact Waves support with all your questions and concerns.

I ran CbB for 6 months 2019, but had issues with updating license call home stuff refresh.jens wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 8:20 am Sonar's last update ist prett recent, so why are you running such an old version? Because you paid for it, while the updated Version ist free?![]()
- no matter what I did it showed nag screens to refresh license
With my old licensing nothing like that is needed ever. Bandlab is a weird company somehow, first having new Sonar "coming soon" for a year, and then nothing but you have to subscribe to Bandlab service and no perpetual as I understand it.
- they were to sell it, but nothing came of that
And the things I feel needs to be fixed in Sonar, also existed in CbB. Their weird Solo Override is nothing like competition does as a set and forget thing. Other weird stuff is soloing a bus makes you not able to solo additional tracks to that etc.
- I have to do solo all on tracks or strange mutes
- but I can live with that stuff
Still have some hope Samp ProX9 might have some things fixed, it says now final chance to get ProX8 until may 19 or whatever it was.
- but they say nothing about grace periods or anything for those that jump on that
Either they fix ProX9 or i uninstall ProX8, not quite on par with Sonar to do video also. Silly high cpu playing back video. You can even run plugins that play video like VidPlayVst that use a fraction of cpu in the same project. VidPlayVst increase from 4% to 6% running transport and video, Samp own windows raise to 14% cpu.
- they acknowledged a year ago, so hope they fix at least that.
About Waves, maybe I should go by "if it works, don't fix it" and just stay put.
I am really hot for a SSL Fusion rack unit for mastering instead of buying more Waves.
Did some tests today since I was afraid I would get ground loops running audio out and in again, but that worked fine.

You should be able to run the old versions of what you own anyway, but I could be wrong. I seem to recall upgrading my licenses didn't break the old stuff I had installed.
Don't F**K with Mr. Zero.

Thanks, good to know they can run side by side too.Ah_Dziz wrote: Mon Apr 21, 2025 1:20 pm You should be able to run the old versions of what you own anyway, but I could be wrong. I seem to recall upgrading my licenses didn't break the old stuff I had installed.
I have a vague memory that there was a problem if mixing VST2 and VST3 versions Waves in the same project, many years ago now. Something with gui happened. That was probably fixed then, but raises the idea there are limitations.

It was all jacked up pre vst3. Double check any questions with waves support. In my experience they are super cool. They've made me special builds of plugins etc and are very nice and not pushy or anything.

No problem, I’ve waited years several times and you get upgraded to the latest version and any new version in the next 12 months. You can get further discounts from everyplugin or plugindicounts

Waves is very good stuff, I depend on those plugins entirely. And their support has always been top notch, when needing it.
In 2015 I bought Samp ProX2 and got serious problems even scanning Waves plugins, and they crashed daw.
- they had several remote sessions with me to find that I didn't forget anything in their instructions
- they could not solve it, and consequently they removed Samp from support Waves VST3, just VST2
- bought ProX8 upgrade a year ago, and that has been all good with Waves.
Many seem to read something bad into their Wup system, but think it is very reasonable. Especially since a cap on cost if having many plugins.
But bought a SSL Fusion today as it contains everything I looked for in recent years, to get that silky shine on the final mix. Now no more excuses not finalizing, a bit scary to have no excuses anymore
I looked for used Elektron Analog Heat mk1, since I saw some YT vids that used that for mastering. Also good stuff, that used are around $400 or so.
Thanks again for all input.
