I'm not doing too good actually. I have a pinched nerve somewhere in my upper trunk that causes radiating pain down my right arm. This severely limits my ability to work at the computer right now.

It's been going since the beginning of the year actually, so it's been almost 3 months now. If this really turns into a chronic problem I'll just have to find a way to release the project in its current state. Half of the samples are still missing though, and no presets. Doesn't make a lot of sense to release it like that, but I don't know.

I guess I still hope it somehow heals soon so I can resume work at a normal pace and properly release a polished project.
I've had pinched nerves in the past (and probably will again in the future). The pain was so bad that even the Vicodin I was taking for other pain couldn't touch it.

My doctors weren't able to determine the cause, but thankfully, it went away after a couple of weeks. During that time, I changed how I sat at the computer and my synth keyboards, along with changing how long I sat at them, too.

Here's hoping you find a way to change whatever you need to relieve the pain. And if you can't, here's hoping you find someone who will get you what you need to block the pain, even if it's epidural shots or nerve ablation (both of which I've had, with some success). But just focus on that for now. Everything else can wait.

I sincerely wish you nothing but the best

Honestly however I think a lot of us would be happy with just the FM parts. For that we don't need any sample libraries, effects or even presets at all.

Call it FM77 I would buy that instantly

Maybe setup a Google drive or something where people can share presets they made or copied over from the SY77 or DX7

I hope Sheaf can find a way to relieve the pain and complete the project perhaps through collaboration(?). We are all waiting for this and hope it does not fall on the wayside. In the meantime wishing the very best and fast recovery to him. Don’t neglect your health.

Get well soon Sheaf!

I appreciate Sheaf's reply to my post. I am so sorry, Sheaf, that you are having a serious health condition. Nerve issues of any sort are some of the most painful things to endure. As most folks have expressed on here...please take care of you first and foremost. If I can express an opinion about SWAY...my hope would be is you get yourself better and then complete the instrument as you intended. This is your baby and you shouldn't compromise what you have started. A little patience is something we all need but sometimes lack...I can attest to that wholeheartedly. Just get yourself better!! Hope we can hear from you from time to time!

Thanks everyone! I'll post an update here every now and then.

Sheaf, so sorry to hear about your troubles. I speak from experience. I am not a doctor but in my case some cortisone injections and a while on prednisolone tablets went a long way to helping me. Take care, and see a specialist doctor if you haven't already done so!

Hoping for your improved health and speedy recovery Sheaf.

These pains usually come from BAD POSTURE. Rest is useless if subject returns to bad posture which produced the pain in the first place.
Sitting, sleeping, walking, daily activities in bathroom etc. - it all contributes to pain.

You must check everything and correct positions and movements.
With anatomically correct positions, it's very difficult to get these pains.
Then again, you might fix everything and then a car hits you. :hihi:

Sitting at the computer is likely a culprit if not at least an agitator of such a problem. Head forward posture will really wreck you if you don't get it in check. I'd recommend you take a break from it all if possible. And I'd really consider medical care sooner than later. I wouldn't want this to become chronic and I doubt it just goes away on it's own without some change in lifestyle and/or medical treatment.

There is an interesting article in Logic Pro Help concerning hand and wrist pain from overuse of the computer mouse. Don't know if this is of any use to sheaf, just thought I'd mention it.

too bad...

You're all operating on the assumption that sheaf's condition was caused by prolonged computer use, which might not be the case...

I've been working with a physical therapist and I'm doing a bit better. Recovery seems to take a long time though, for this condition. Very frustrating! I can spend about 6, 7 hours a week on the project now. (I used to do at least 20 hours a week so I still have a ways to go.)

40 out of 112 samples still need to created, and then I can start sending out a beta version.
