I have a new system with different USB sockets and I need to trandsfer my licenses from my iLok3 usbA to a new iLok3 usbC and I'm wondering if a seamless method to do this might be to transfer the licenses to the cloud first, and then transfer them to the second iLok.

Is this something folks have done before and had an issues with? I just want to make sure I don't end up in a hole of corrupt licences without the ability to work.

Any ideas?
cheers :)

You can just deactivate the licence(s) from the first iLok and reactivate on the new one using iLok Manager.

Direct drag and drop should also work if the two iLoks are plugged in at the same time.

Thanks Gamma, yeah one of them is plugged into an iMac and other into a macbook; that's what I'm trying to get around using the cloud activation.

Looking at the icons on the iLok manager it looks like the dev has to enable cloud activation before it can be used in the way I'd like. If the cloud icon is greyed out I'm guessing the dev as not allowed cloud on that licence, and quite a few of mine are like that.

I think I might just have to get an adaptor so I can plug them into the same machine!
thanks again :)

You don’t have to go through the cloud licence. When you deactivate, the licence just sits in your iLok account until it’s reactivated. It’s the same situation as for additional licences like the three you get for UVI libraries.

yeah that stuff I've had no experience with so I didn't even realise this was an option. a friend also confirmed this worked for him recently.

thanks all! :)
