This isn't just another plugin; it's a realtime virtual instrument or audio processing powerhouse. You can effortlessly import audio from virtual instruments, analog inputs, or audio files and watch as granular synthesis transforms them into something entirely new. Use it on real-time audio or pre-recorded tracks to manipulate sound at a granular level, creating dynamic textures, intricate soundscapes, and otherworldly effects. It can apply textural effects to any audio or instrument track!

I'm assuming that is "recognized/listed" as an effect by your DAW. That doesn't really surprise me, given the "inputs" statements. Can you load a wav file (sample) into it, and play it like a synth (melodic and harmonic progressions), or does it just play the file like a (erm) "player", that you then grab little bits here and there, to manipulate?aMUSEd wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 6:42 pm It does imply it is both, but for me it’s just installed as effect.

There doesn't seem to be any midi in so you can't play it melodically. You can import audio files (although this seems broken in Logic) but you can only manipulate them as sound sources, not play them.Shabdahbriah wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:16 pmI'm assuming that is "recognized/listed" as an effect by your DAW. Interesting TY. Still looks very appealing. But "granular" is a particular obsession of mine, since way way back.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:47 pmThere doesn't seem to be any midi in so you can't play it melodically. It's good but I did really want to be able to use it as an instrument as seemed to be impliedShabdahbriah wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:54 pmInteresting TY. Still looks very appealing. Good to know, but indeed, the use of the word/term "instrument" is somewhat (if not totally) misleading, and therefore inappropriate, and should be addressed.aMUSEd wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:55 pmIt's good but I did really want to be able to use it as an instrument as seemed to be impliedShabdahbriah wrote: Sat Apr 26, 2025 7:54 pmInteresting TY. Notwithstanding "I" consider my mixing desk to be an "instrument", and ALL of my gear, to be my "synth", and though I know others who feel likewise to varying degrees, it is not the norm.

Oh well I have contacted their support as I really wanted a proper instrument version, I have lots of granular effects already

Ofcourse such sort of things mandatory to have demoversion. As for me, critically important to have ability to check engine nature for grain' sound behavior at minimal sizes (what can sounds very differ in each granulars). Otherwise it's a "pig in a poke".

Yeah I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd demo'd it and know for certain it was just an effect but it's my birthday today and I wanted a new toy to play with so foolishly rushed in
Maybe they will add a VSTi version?

Calling an instrument is really a stretch.
It's a granular processor. A pretty good one at that.
I would however say that in terms of recent granular plugins I prefer Imaginando's GRFX. It's also cheaper.

Can the buffer be captured/ saved? Can it function without a live input or from a saved audio file. Calling it an instrument otherwise seems quite misleading.
Anyway if they ever get a demo going I'll check it out. I do love granular synthesis of all flavors. This doesn't seem especially "New" or "any other synonym for interesting" from the wee bit of info I have.
Reaktor and Crusher seem to have me covered for any really intense granular trickery. I'd love to see something that has an extremely in depth and configurable audio analysis and feature extraction system at the input or upon import. Otherwise most of this granular stuff is just a new GUI for a subset of what can be achieved with some buffers and taps.

If you freeze the buffer and save it as a preset then the audio is saved with that preset. A nice feature.
In terms of something new I think the pathing is a neat feature.
You can have different paths for each of the 4 granulators. The paths control the volume (Y axis) and buffer position (X axis). So you could have, for example, one granulator pitched up at one point of the sample and another pitched down at a different point and another sweeping through.
Along with the modulation system you can get some pretty interesting sounds.

Tried recently Imaginando GRFX (and BLEASS Granulizer), frankly did not found anything new \ special. Particularly by that factor that i desribed above. (By compared to past "usually suspects")
So, fortunately both have demoversion.
Although yes, normal usable stuff.
Hm that sounds good.kraster wrote: Mon Apr 28, 2025 2:24 am If you freeze the buffer and save it as a preset then the audio is saved with that preset. A nice feature.

Weird, as the devs mention in response to a query on their YT overview video that it can be played like an instrument in realtime:
Duality without regard to physicality
