Those effects do nothing for the sound quality. It's just an EQ and a compressor. If you want more theoretical quality turn up the oversampling.

Sorry, but this is not correct respectively partly wrong.
I adjust very often low and high in the EQ and add Multiband in a very little amount and this does very obvious improving the quality regarding low, mid and high frequencies of some presets respectively some wavetable or sample sounds.
I hear the effect every day.
If increasing instead oversampling rate it handles the complete sound and that is not always an improvement, in many situations it makes the sound even more worse.
A dull synth sound for example remains dull even with 8 * oversampling.
I have tested it within Vital somethimes but the results where not satisfying.
On the other hand if you have lofi mutlisamples from the 90s, oversampling can indeed improve the sound quality.
So, for old samples or low quality samples oversampling can improve the quality, but barely within a synth like Vital. Bad sounding wavetables don't sound better with oversampling in my experience, but with EQ and Compressor you can improve them drastically.

We explain why aliasing in plug‑ins isn’t always a problem — and why oversampling isn’t always the solution.

Oversampling is key to quality as soon as you have non-linear processes. Of course you can enhance the sound with eq and comp, but that is trivial. If you got already aliasing, its too late though, you can‘t get rid of it with filters unless you want to turn it into a dull mess…

Ig to be able to continue the conversation we beed to agree on what we mean when we use the term "sound quality". It sounds to me you're referring to subjective experience of how pleasing it sounds to you or how it fits the purpose you're using it for. I'm not sure if we can have a meaningful conversation about quality with such subjective metrics, but we can say that altering the amplitude and dynamics of different frequency bands may make the sound subjectively more enjoyable or help the creative process of fitting it in.

I already thought about this.
And you are right. I think more of a subject improving of the sound.

I have tested 4* and even 8* oversampling in Vital and when the results did not fit then I used the EQ and Compressor make it suitable in some frequency aspects if possible.

Vital is dead also SErum 2 is best in class in every category so why bother talking about Vitals oversampling? Invest the time in active projects, Serum 2, Surge literally any other active synth.

Post

Wrong.
There are several things vital 2 can do and serum2 cant.

Invest the time in making music with the tools you have at your disposal...

I can assure you that Vital is not dead...

It sounds the same as it ever has and the workflow is exemplary
No auto tune...

You have a weird definition of "dead." I use the synth every day, and it's wonderful. I find it vastly faster to program than Serum 2 (which I like, a lot, to be sure). Dead ? Hardly. Can you not make music with it?

It's weird how many people behave as though they can only Make Good Music if a synth plugin is brand new / recently updated/ currently enjoying the Online Forum Limelight.... seems more focused on the business and the tech than the actual purpose of the instruments.

Yep, I wonder how people can still use and make music out of hardware synths that have never been updated in 20 years 😁

To my knowledge, Vital still works when I add it to a track in my DAW (sorry, I know I am being a bit silly but just could not resist...).

Pity it's not being maintained anymore, but it still makes (good) noise and has a great workflow.

Throw that Stradivarius away !

It's rubbish because it's too old now

I am not saying its bad or you cannot use it but lets call it for what it is, dead. I never said anything about making music or talent or anything but if you need to invest the time learning a synth, I would choose another because it will just make you frustrated later and there is better tech out there which is being updated. Also change the title of the thread as it just confuses people and its annoying hence the comment.

It would be dead if I can‘t load and play it in any of my machines. Its still breathing and doesn‘t have deal breaking bugs. Its not even old or infirm. Matt has his own forum and most likely no intention to read your kind of posts on KVR… My most beloved developer avoids KVR as well for that reason…
Posting here as developer can be part of the business, but you need an elephant’s skin for it…

Vital is available in VST3 format. That format will be around for a very long time to come. There is no downside risk to learning Vital over any other plugin you can buy

What happened to the developer? Is he busy with another project or just gave up?
