First of all, this seems to be neither a computer nor OS related issue - therefore I'm posting it here in Effects, hoping somebody out there has experienced this and been able to resolve the issue.
And yes, I am in contact with Ulf from Celemony. And while he sure is being responsive and trying to help .. sadly, we are getting nowhere.
It makes no difference if I'm trying to activate on Windows or macOS - my previous machine was a Windows 11 setup running Melodyne 5 essentials for a long time, never had any problem! Not with activation, not with updates. Of course I de-authorized it before switching, so both seats are available for activation .. that is, if I could do so.
Now, I'm setting up a new Mac system and fresh install of Ventura, and it won't activate .. but neither can I re-activate my previous W11 machine now, it just doesn't make any sense. Things Ulf/I have tried so far:
- Ulf provided older installers of Melodyne 5 essential (of course all traces of the software were removed previously, following his guide) .. no success - not on the Windows side, not on the Mac
- I registered a new account with an unused serial, to exclude problems with the account .. no success
- Ulf suggested it must be my internet connection. All I have available is a tethered 4G connection provided by my mobile, there is no alternative. However, I've installed Proton VPN to mask my mobile network and location .. no success.
To be honest, I'm out of ideas at this point. Any fresh ideas welcome.

I will mark this thread as solved now, because the solution to this problem was absolutely trivial - however not suggested by Celemony support and it was a kind of desperate, last effort attempt since .. well, what could possibly go wrong.
The problem was me assuming, that the downloads fetched from your user account would be customized and contain all data for activation. Turns out, I had to basically re-register the serial number (there's an option to enter it on the opening page about the computer not being activated).
Thing just is that I was already logged in my Celemony account right the next tab, in order to access my serial number and the download. After that, the next tab opened and .. after questioning my sanity and computer setup and everything else for ~2 days .. computer is now registered, it said.
No more iLok-bashing from me for a while now.
