Zynaptiq is announcing INTENSITY 2 & Early Access
IMG_9760.png
A massive update, INTENSITY 2 doubles down on the classic's core features and workflow, adding exciting new features and improvements across the board, including new algorithms with low CPU use and near-zero latency, support for up to 16 channels for immersive workflows, more BIAS CURVE presets, mid/side processing options, and much more. Check out the details of what's new below!

Conceptually similar to what HDR does for photography, INTENSITY 2 brings out a sound's inherent detail, increases perceived loudness, and adds clarity and bite - and is operated using essentially a single control. Between three proprietary algorithms, mid/side processing, an optional soft-knee saturating limiter, 16-channel support, and a super-fast and inspiring workflow, INTENSITY 2 is a must-have for mixing, mastering, and sound design.

New features in INTENSITY version 2:

New CRYSTAL and BRONZE algorithms: based on our custom engineered minimum phase filter bank, CRYSTAL and BRONZE bring a sound with more bite and stronger transients to the table. Optionally running in 64-bit precision, both feature significantly reduced CPU load and near-zero latency (3 samples). The v1 algorithm is of course still included, and has been renamed to SMOOTH.
Support for up to 16 channels for immersive workflows.
M/S Processing: Stereo instances can now process either the stereo signal, just the Mid channel, or just the Side channel. Using INTENSITY on the Side channel produces a lovely, huge stereo image.
More BIAS CURVE PRESETS: INTENSITY 2 now sports a total of 22 BIAS CURVE PRESETS, up from 10.
Redesigned, scalable UI: the UI is now fully vectorized, provides up to 200% of zoom, features a new help text system, and has generally been streamlined.
Previous/Next/Load/Save Preset can now be controlled via MIDI for improved accessibility.
Version 2 comes with dual activations, like all our latest releases.

There's an Early Bird and Upgrade price.

The upgrade price from 1 to 2 is a bit steep, at least during early bird period.
I think I'll wait for Black Friday.

I’m still having a huge issue with their product Morph3. The graphics become scrambled after some time (approx. 45 seconds) and it makes all Cubase/Nuendo screens go black also, making everything on Windows 10 (64) unusable until you Ctrl+Alt+Del and close the DAW. I’ve written to the support months and months ago, three times, providing every detail I could. And I’ve never received any answer.
I know this bug was reported on the previous version. I’m sure I’m using the latest. I’ve uninstalled, clean reinstalled the latest at least 10 times.
A similar graphic bug affecting the whole screen is also appearing on Balance.
The most incredible thing is that it’s working perfectly... for 45 seconds or so... looks like a timebomb or something... wt£
And I have 95% of their products I believe... The only one I’ve skipped is Unmix Drums afaik.
Some help would be appreciated from Zynaptiq please.

For the moment, I’m using Morph3 for 45 seconds, force-closing Nuendo, and back. :scared:

Agreed. Only reason I’m not getting it now is that.

Denis has never been anything other than kind when I've had to deal with Zynaptiq directly but every time I buy or update one of their plugins, can't help but think they must hate their customers.

Not only is this ilok, you have to enter a code, your name and your email address into a web page whose only link is in an email, to get the ilok code. And then do another bit to get the download. And none of this is obvious so if you forget all this and have to do it again, you have to figure it out again. The biggest PITA in licensing for the plugins I have is Zynaptiq. I don't know why they make it so difficult on their paying customers.

But I use Intensity 1 a lot, so low cpu and low latency in 2? Have to buy. But I do feel hated as a paying customer, have to say.

+1, same experience ! just updated today......yeah, on many small fronts a hassle. All in all a PITA.
They don´t seem to understand that we are dealing with hundreds of plugins -commonly- in the meantime. And that THIS is a big part vs. from where this whole market gets its money from.

prices ?
from what i saw and remember would i not expect to get it cheaper at BF.
In 2 years maybe. Or in 3.
Zynaptic has a quite high awarness of the different sales and a very worked out price scheme.
No surprises there to expect.

worth to mention:
it´s now also, as is with all new versions, good for two activations
"Plugin has turned Drug now"....and the business knows it.

Upgrade is too expensive. I had this idea in my mind that Zynaptiq made exceptional plugins until I purchased Intensity v1 in a sale. They make good plugins but so do a lot of other companies.

i have Intensity but somehow didnt use it after a couple of weeks. what does it better or unique than soothe/spiff, Gullfoss, TEOTE etc.? it was also too cpu massive for its results afaik.

do you mix this up with BALANCE? Just asking because INTENSITY is not really in the same category like the other plugins you mentioned

The gain compensation behaves strangely in Intensity 2, just tried it on a full mix and it was pumping like crazy, even with more subtle doses of the Intensity parameter (the AGC switch didn't help either). For full music mixes the legacy algorithm still sounds best to my ears, the new algos are useful for enhancing all sorts of audio material at a much lower latency.

EDIT: although the “Bronze“ algo excels at preserving/enhancing transient-heavy audio material while providing a full sound spectrum.

Post

Concerning the gain compensation issues, here is a quote from the developer (from the Gearspace thread):
In general, the monitoring gain compensation is designed to switch between the three states to get an idea of how absolute level changes affect your perception of what the plugin is doing, as a monitoring function – it's not designed to stay in the signal path actively. As the way it works is based on measuring the actual levels, it has a settling time during which it updates the gain when you switch modes, or change parameters. There's thus a trade-off: you'll want to adapt the level quickly, as to not distract from the comparison with a level bump, but you'll also want to not do it too quickly, to avoid discontinuity clicks. We can certainly tweak that one or the other way, if desired.

No, nobody knows this.
It's a matter of expectation.
They will look at the numbers of upgraders and non-upgraders and when enough guys don't pay the 49 bucks now the chances are that they will react correspondingly.
It's a game.
