Interesting and it deserves its own thread. I never worked with it, but when Sonic Solutions was a thing, Sadie was the strongest, maybe the only competition especially with the Cedar restauration hardware…
They simply didn‘t realize that they needed to innovate after their strong times. People most likely just moved to other systems… And younger mastering engineers wouldn‘t jump on it. If they had been dominating the market like ProTools, they might have survived, but to Sonic Solutions happened the same thing… In mastering, you don‘t need compatibility (except for plugins), in DAW based studios its crucial…

So is Reaper.
I assumed all actual DAWs were, actually. (By actual, I mean not a WAV editor that had multitracking tacked on at some point, like Adobe Audition, Audacity, etc.).

Fun fact: Adobe Audition is literally Cool Edit Pro reskinned. They just did the extra step of buying Cool Edit out first.osiris wrote: Wed Apr 30, 2025 8:07 pm It looks like Cool Edit reskinned. (This guy did this with Audacity and had the nerve to put it in the Microsoft store.)

This is the image of Better Audio Editor from the Microsoft store. By Xiaoya Lab (those wacky Chinese). Same UI, same effects. I mean, who knows? Didn't a Chinese company acquire them?
