Hi, as the title of my thread mentions, I am looking for a reverb VST that is capable of only playing the verb (without the original impetus so to speak). So, in case of a kick with the plugin switched on: no kick, only the processed verb.

What plugin can do this?

Kind regards, Slug

Depending on its controls, just about any reverb plugin with mix set to 100%, or with dry/wet balance set to 100% wet, 0% dry.

Thanks for your reply whyterabbit! I’ll fumble around a bit. I figured a VST with a dedicated function. Regards! Slug

You can do it with almost any reverb plugin. Most DAWs should let you hear just the reverb, though I guess some of the real cheapo/freebie ones might not have all of the features. The 2 most obvious ways are:
1. Put your reverb as an insert on whatever channel and turn the reverb mix to 100% wet. That parameter will be within the reverb plugin itself. TBH I can't offhand think of any reverb that doesn't have a mix parameter.
2. Put your reverb as an aux send. On whatever channel you want it on, change the reverb to a pre-fader send (most sends will be post-fader by default) then you can take the channel fader down to zero, which will effectively mute the original channel source but the reverb will still be heard and you can control the volume by the pre-fader send knob and the send return fader.

You might need to check your DAW manual to see how to implement pre-fader aux sends. Should be fairly straight-forward though. Probably doing it as an insert 100% wet is the easier method, but not by much.

It is a pretty obvious requirement if you use a reverb as a send FX or on a parallel bus.
