In that case, just get me one as well
They are probably cheaper in a six-pack anyway

Very odd. Hands up those of you that had been hoping for this to be revived, or even knew of it's existance.
There's been an original up for sale for about £12,000 for several years which I thought was just crazy.
£10k is about the same as one of the smaller Moog Modular re-issues which are better known, more veratile and have more of a collector cache. I think new EMS VCS3s are probably £6-7k and again would be alot more versatile.

I'm reasonably 'synth (history) literate', and I do not recall ever hearing about this synth.ChamomileShark wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 5:47 pm Very odd. Hands up those of you that had been hoping for this to be revived, or even knew of it's existance.
I'm not a musician, but I've designed sounds that others use to make music. http://soundcloud.com/obsidiananvil

It's in the A-Z of Analogue Synths by Peter Forrest but no, it's not very well known and very rare. Doesn't seem particularly different either. I don't think his modular was radical either but I guess he was supplying to the German market mainly, it would have been cheaper than importing a Moog.
I checked the original price, it was about 1,500 euro in 1976, a Roland SH7 was £1175 in 78. So it wasn't an expensive synth at the time.

Not that i don't want one, but this is out of most peoples budget. I wonder what NI has to do with it. Probably not much other than give back or allow him to use his company name.

Exactly - they licensed the use of the PPG logo. That's it I suspect...mi-os wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 9:06 pm Not that i don't want one, but this is out of most peoples budget. I wonder what NI has to do with it. Probably not much other than give back or allow him to use his company name.
