Actually I use quick sampler for editing presets using single samples,...with an interesting palette of editing possibilities to give rather sophisticated presets

The downside is this one being locked to Logic Pro, so what exists on the current market that offers comprehensive editing possibilities for sampling ...as quick sampler or even better ?

For creative purpose if needed to say !

So you want a basic wav editor for MacOs?
Ever heard of Ocenaudio? Can be installed with HomeBrew.
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

And whaat about this one ? :

https://www.landr.com/plugins/landr-sampler

it seems very promising ?

the landr plugin is good to have (works fine) but I would still have some combination of sample sorter like the free adsr one and cr8. the sample sorter cr8 came up with isn't the best either but it is a fantastic sampler.

do you mean "single cycle" or "single sample"?

single sample

I see that battery is on sale so that could be part of your toolkit, I suspect it is mostly used for drums and short samples... I have no idea what your budget is but it made it into my short list.

If you want to "edit" samples, there are two very different
ways that we need to distinguish:

1. We can "edit" samples directly in the sampler. This type
of editing is then saved as a preset in the sampler – and
is therefore non-destructive.

2. We can edit samples as audio files in an audio editor.
This editing would be destructive.

============================================

You're explicitly looking for a version (1) edit within a sample.
This could be:

--- Logic Pro Sampler, EXS
--- Steinberg Halion
--- Native Instruments Kontakt

Editing here is ergonomically and elegantly possible (with
waveform display, etc.). However, the samplers are proprietary,
meaning you're tied to the company and the format.

However, the procedure according to version (2) is more
suitable for advanced creatives: You can edit the sample(s) as
you wish using any audio editor. There are many good ones:

--- Audacity
--- Oceanaudio
--- Wavosaur

And you can even use special programs to extend or
shorten your wavs extremely, such as:

---- Paulstretch

This approach is especially better for highly creative editing
because it allows for more variety, scope, gradation, and drama.
After editing, you assign the sample to a "simple" sampler that
will "simply" play the sample. This can even be a non-proprietary
sampler like:

---- Sforzando
---- Sfizz
---- TX16W
---- liquidsfz
...

Especially since you write

I would recommend version (2) as the way of editing. :phones:

Trackers have some of the best samplers... One can use Renoise as you don't have to actually buy it I believe the only restriction is it can't render tunes... Import your 'sample' into Renoise, edit as desired & save as an 'XRNI' Instrument then convert the 'XRNI' to anything else using Extreme Sample Convertor...

There's also SampleLord which is VSTi or Standalone usage...

Or use HighLife which can sample VSTi & export to SFZ... Extreme Sample Convertor & Renoise can also sample VSTi output...
