GATE-12 Released - Free Trance Gate / Volume Shaper

Released GATE-12, an envelope generator for volume control, it has some advanced tools for creating and manipulating patterns, Audio Triggering and a very intuitive Paint mode, it keeps up with plugins like ShaperBox and GrossBeat.

This is the latest version (3rd) of GATE-1 plugin and I think I hit a good note with this one, the development processes are also much better and I expect to be able to add a few more features, once its stable, I intend to also rebuild TIME-1 and at least one more plugin based on the same engine.

I can no longer use AnalogX Audio Arpeggiator (DirectX, MsWindows) so this is great timing. Also, in general, Trance gates are awesome for dance music.

UPDATE: bummer...

I get sound and presets work in REAPER (VST3 version via Wine-Staging v9.21 & Yabridge) but nothing but a black screen for GUI. And when I try to switch to REAPER's generic GUI, the whole program just freezes and I have to force it to quit. The LV2 version refused to run in REAPER on my Manjaro XFCE Linux (v25, Linux v6.14).

I still support your efforts though. I will keep trying and follow any updates.

Many thanks for this. Probably I won*t need such type of FX in a jazz rock band but it's interesting nonetheless and it works as expected.

Thanks for the feedback and replies, @mjolnir I tested on Linux Mint, not sure exactly what version, can it be that you are using an old version of of Linux (I had to downgrade the CI Ubuntu version so it ran on my machine for instance)? If you could try Ardour DAW, I don't recall the steps but it show the errors with plugins in the console or plugins window. Finally why are you using Wine? I use reaper with VST without needing to use Wine.

It's working perfectly in Luna on Sonoma. I'm enjoying setting it to Rate Hz and using it for amplitude modulation. It confused me at first that the sine and triangle are anything but, then I realized they're modified by the Tension knob. Might be a good idea to have Tension go to zero when loading shapes. More shapes would also be good. It'd be nice if we could arrow through the different shapes and patterns.

- edit - A mix knob would also be nice for the AM stuff.

Guess I can add mouse wheel to scroll the patterns, not enough space for arrows buttons I think.
About mix knob, I am used to Reaper where each plugin has a Wet knob, I'll have a look.

The Min knob probably accomplishes the same thing as a Mix knob. Sorry, I didn’t realize it when I wrote that last night. Thank you for this plugin, it’s really great!

Glad you like it, mix and min is not the same thing, I added the mix dial today, didn't occur to me that the DAW may not have that functionality already so it makes sense, probably pushing to release by end of the day.

Yes, it supports both resizing and scale factor.

Karrikuh thanks for reporting, I'll try to reproduce the issue, strange I use Reaper for developing and haven't run into issues, I'll let you know how it goes.

Ummm, I cannot reproduce the error on Linux.
I am using latest gate-12 release on OS: Linux Mint 21 (Ubuntu 22.04) x86_64.

Its strange that its failing you on close UI, what happens when the UI closes is that the plugin saves settings to the settings file.
Still I need to reproduce this to be able to debug.

What Linux version are you using?
It uses ubuntu-22.04 on CI to make the builds, I'll try to apply some work around if I can find one, can´t promise it will be fixed, I can´t verify as it is.
