I'm trying to make a mix tape or playlist for a friend of mine to showcase how Brostep and Dubstep came from Dub Reggae. Please post up any tunes that you think need to be in the playlist. All tunes must be dub, or reggae, or dub reggae, or dubstep, or brostep, or deep dupstet, heavy dubstep, etc.
If you find old school dubstep with WOBBLES ("wubs"), that's good.
Exceptions: Please no Bob Marley, my buddy already has all the Bob Marley tunes and most people know that style already. Whereas, not everybody knows dub or dub reggae.
Classic oldschool dubstep from 2007-2009 definately welcome.
All ethnicities welcome too.

Okay, grime too. You know more than me on this topic.Bunny_boy wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 6:07 pm No grime? Always thought that Grime and Dubstep were siblings, with Grime being the elder of the two
Maybe I should've included Jungle too.

Thanks for hooking me up, you guys. This is a great start! Back in the early 2000s I used to listen to a lot of GaragePressureShow, but I never paid any attention to who the bands and artists were, so nowadays I'm at almost a total loss. I remember BunZero DJ'ing and FBi Radio (the Future Sound of Sydney) bumpin it out of Australia and Brussels Belgium. Ah, good times.
All I could think of for Dub was King Tubby and Mad Professor, but I know there's a lot more than that.
I admit it, i'm ignorant on all this.

yeah, true. i understand this too. well said.No_Use wrote: Sun May 11, 2025 9:15 pm With Dubstep in its original form I agree with you, Brostep otoh (Skrillex style etc) I don't see a connection to Dub/Reggae anymore tbh.
it's shocking how far away from it's roots it's come.
