It has examples (last time I checked)
This works.
This will really help me to help my friend out.
This is better than me trying to blindly explain.
UPDATE:
Damn, this has me realise I have been using the wrong genres for my own tunes.
I need to rebrand right away. I can probably get a stronger audience if I quit using certain tags and start using others.

Check out records produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry and Adrian Sherwood for some classic dub stuff.
Some of the stuff that Mick Harris, et al were doing with Scorn, is closer to dub than what became dubstep, IMO. A slightly different direction from Jungle and Grime, I suppose.
Venetian Snares' "Sabbath Dubs" was pretty face melting back in 2007. Also Boxcutter was much more dubby than wubby. Glyphic was released around the same time and blew my mind. I don't have much love for what Dubstep became but there were some really decent records around that time.

For sure and it's really his only output that I would put in the category. More as a counter example of what dubstep became, than anything else.Bunny_boy wrote: Mon May 12, 2025 10:10 pm Think that's the first time I've heard VSnares mentioned with regards to dub!

You guys are impressive. Thanks for the massive response. I'm gonna point my buddy to this thread for a special playlist.
Also, if you guys are interested, I just found this thread (still going) on DogsOnAcid:

"I'm going to put on an iron shirt and chase Satan out of Earth!"
Dang, I wish I'd known of this GOSPEL Reggae tune long BEFORE Prodigy ripped it off.
Unrelated(?) Aside: If anybody is interested it's astonishing to know that KMFDM did at least one ALL DUB album!!!?!?!
Here's one of my favorites off that. (has nothing to do with brostep) I can't play the original version "Paradise" becasue the language lyrics might get me bannned LOL. But this DUB version is Safe:

I couldn't resist this one too: I know it's not old school, but that's part of the impressiveness coming from this odd angle, so many decades after "Naive" and "Money"
