Hi. Hopefully we can use this as a living document but I wanted to have a go-to list for everyone to reference when reaching for certain reverb model! Please add your suggestions, clarifications, errors, harsh criticisms in the comments.
Vintage Verb
Concert Hall
Bright Hall
Plate
Room
Chamber
Random Space
Chorus Space
Ambience
Sanctuary: loosely based on the "constant density" reverb algorithms of the 1970s, such as the EMT250 and 224 Constant Density Plate
Dirty Hall: Lexicon 224XL and AMS RMX-16
Dirty Plate: Lexicon 224XL and AMS RMX-16
Smooth Plate: Modern update of the “classic” Lexicon reverb algorithms
Smooth Room: Modern update of the “classic” Lexicon reverb algorithms
Smooth Random: Modern update of the “classic” Lexicon reverb algorithms
Nonlinear: RMX16 (Nonlin 2)
Chaotic Hall
Chaotic Chamber
Chaotic Neutral

I put it together for my own purposes to better understand VVV and have a reference doc. That information was gathered from Sean Costello's posts here and in Gearspace. Basically, any time I found him talking about one of the algorithms, or giving a usage tip, I'd stick it in the sheet.JoeLowery215 wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 4:58 amWhoa where's this from?!Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 12:19 am Way ahead of you:

I had always thought Valhalla were his own designs/algos and not at all designed to be clones.
They are all certainly very unique and very usable.

They're not exact clones like Relab but they take inspiration from hardware verbs. At least for VintageVerb. Some of the modes start out as one thing and then do something completely different like completely different modulation or different early reflection patterns. While others are meant to be pretty close to the original units.Dirk Diggler wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 12:33 pm I had always thought Valhalla were his own designs/algos and not at all designed to be clones.

I get that for VintageVerb, but I guess I don't see the point in "sounds like" for the others.
Their name is Valhalla DSP for reason, he creates his own proprietary algos and DSP. That said however, I don't know if he uses modelling, I don't believe he does.

Actually nobody besides you is talking about anything else than V³ in this thread. If you look at the OP, all the algos listed are from V³. And also Funkybot's spreadsheet is about the same exclusively.Dirk Diggler wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 12:58 pm I get that for VintageVerb, but I guess I don't see the point in "sounds like" for the others.

Well, fwiw the Sonsigs are actually conceptually somewhat similar to the (at least partly) vintage-inspired Valhalla stuff...

So its mostly 'vintage Lexi-style'? Makes sense now why VVV sits so nicely in a mix how I like it haha.
I was hoping for some Roland SRV or SPX90-style stuff, but I guess that would've been more of a 'lower-end vintage verb'.

My current season with music software is "if it sounds good it is".
I don't care anymore if my $50 plugin gives me that elusive expensive immersive analog 3D and whatnot feeling just as the "right" hardware that was and is financially unobtainable to me.
Valhalla plugins are hitting nerves that make me want them.
I can make a lot of the sounds with them that I want and have ever loathed.
Maybe not "exactly" like the "originals" but I don't care about that.
The times of running after unobtainium are mostly over for me.
Having said that I like these lists. They are fun.
So are Valhalla plugins. My standards and go tos.

It works via automation or control surface plugged into automation. The specific, normalized values are one of the columns on the sheet!rafa1981 wrote: Thu May 15, 2025 5:12 pm Cool document.
Let's see if they add arrow buttons and mouse wheel support to change algorithm.
