Didn't know there was a lite version. I got it when it came out. For orchestral scoring. It's useful for any situation that needs sounds placed in a space though. I use it for jazz and rock also. And electronic silliness.osiris wrote: Fri Apr 14, 2023 9:20 pm The website says the $129 has one room. Another $100.00 gets you all the rooms. That's a lot of money for a Pan management tool. But, if I were scoring orchestras it would probably be essential.
Does such a plugin already exist?

I’ll actually be releasing a plugin that I believe is exactly what you’re looking for in the next month or two. It convincingly places instruments on the soundstage without binaural tricks, washing with reverb or lowering volume. If you join the mailing list at www.brucejames.studio I’ll be updating there and probably giving out beta licenses.

Previously I mentioned Virtual Sound Stage. Unfortunately, it is abandonware and will likely never see an update to VST3 or Apple Silicon. But there is now a new plugin, Ambiente from Audio Modeling, that does exactly the same thing, plus it has it's own late room reflections as well. It's a standalone effect plugin that interacts with the the built-in Ambiente room simulation in the SWAM instruments.

Another plugin that has caught my attention is APL VIRTUOSO v2. I'm not entirely sure how it works, though.

Mir Pro 3D is an alternative as well, for anyone interested:

Amazing piece of software, but quite expensive.

That sucks about VSS. I better have my installer backed up. I haven't really had much luck with any of the other things like this. I've got a buddy that swears by the VSL mir thing. I always thought WIVI (another company that's gone) had a great implementation of this sort of thing in their player. Before VSS was released I figured they'd do well to release the WIVI stage as a plugin. As of now I don't really have any use for this sort of thing outside of trying to make 20 different orchestral libraries sit in a reasonable version of the same space.jamcat wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 1:06 am Previously I mentioned Virtual Sound Stage.
