Roland JV-1080 finally, as virtual instrument!

I don't know if it had been shared here but if you want to use any bin with the jv or srx expansion, you just have to open the file in a Hex editor and change the name at the beginning of the file to make it compatible

please help me I have hex editor rename from what to what exactly? I'm not sure what to rename to?

At the top, change "NEX02" (the number will vary depending on the SRX expansion) to "JV1080", or vice versa, to make the bins compatible with the respective VST.
However, the JV-1080 doesn't have the proper wav files and will sound off. But the SRX expansions all contain the 1083 JV-XV wavs with additional ones as well, since some of the presets require them. Therefore the JV-XV presets can be loaded on any SRX VST with the proper wavs.

I am curious where the wav files are stored though. After making a copy of the VST3 and changing the file format to .rar and opening it, I found what seems to be the "wave groups" in the WROM folder.

Thanks to your answer, I have sincerely tried to make the changes as you mentioned in the HEX editor and using any SRX since as you mentioned in the JV1080 VST would not work, but unfortunately I do not understand how to do it correctly or what part I should rename.
I also tried to do it and tried it in the SRX and it could read it, but nevertheless in the presets list there are strange symbols and no preset makes any sound.

I have tried to look for a video tutorial or some help and nobody knows exactly how to make these Bins compatible in the VST, a pity.
Hopefully I can count on your help again so I can use these expansions, thank you very much!

XV5050 Bank E,F,G,H

how do I load the expansion boards .bin's into the JV-1080 VST?
I get a "The file cannot be read" error message when trying to load these .bin's:

I still own an XP-30 (techno, orchestral, session built in) slammed in the World and House JV expansions in it (pulled those from my JV880 before selling it years ago). Then grabbed a Sonic Cell with the Asia SRX card (room for one more?) so I'm pretty set on the JV/XV sound palette and still use them QUITE a bit. Love that sound!

Really? I find that a bit of a stretch.

Granted, I still have mine, but it doesn’t see any use these days (least of all because of my ex-wife deliberately smashing the display). No, I can’t see this being the plugin which tips the scales to make me pay a monthly fee to Roland.

It was one of the most ubiquitous "synths" of that era (rompers with "large" patch Libraries). Every studio I went into as a kid had one or two in the rack and it was where they pointed you if you wanted to "add some synths". This was right before virtual analog synths started up in earnest and a good while before running plugins on your PC was an option.

That being said I never really thought much of it. Most of it was more on the Enya or Random pad in the bridge of a pop song end of the spectrum. Definitely not anything that interests me in looking into Roland's plugins.

Hi, I read a thread about BIN support in SRX, can you explain to me specifically how I can add these BINs or even make VST plugins in SRX? I tried opening Resource Hacker or changing letters via HEX Editor but nothing worked, how can I make these WROMs work?

So do these bins only work for the 1080 vst? And not the 5080 vst? I’ve got the latter as perpetual license but not the former so would love try to load hardware patches into it.
